IMPORTANCE OF BLACK AND WHITE MASTERBATCH

by Aakash P. consultant
Plastics have endless usages in consumer as well as industrial products. There is not a single sector where plastic products are not used. The main reason behind the popularity of plastic products is the use of masterbatch in creating these polymeric products. The polymers enable the final products to take up any shape. That is why we can see numerous products with appealing appearances and amazing shapes in the market.
Let us have a look at some of the important masterbatches useful for the plastic industry. 1) BLACK MASTERBATCH: One of the most widely used masterbatches in the plastic manufacturing process is black masterbatch. It is made from carbon black and the manufacturers determine the grade requirement depending on the customer needs.

FUNCTIONS OF THE MASTERBATCH:
•    Increase the blackness intensity of the products.
•    Increase the brightness of the products which makes them more appealing.
•    It is specially designed to get darker and brighter tones of the products.

APPLICATIONS:
•    The material is used in film packaging.
•    Woven Bags / Raffia
•    Non-Woven Fabrics
•    Blown Films
•    Blow Moulding
•    Injection Moulding
•    HDPE Pipes

2) WHITE MASTERBATCH: The white masterbatch is a combnation of ultrafine and ultra white Titanium Dioxide. The Titanium Dioxide (Ti02) loading ranges from 20% to 75% depending on the requirement of consumers.

The advantages of White Masterbatch are:
•    It offers excellent dispersion.
•    As it can enhance the opacity and whiteness of products, it helps the plastic products more appealing.
•    It provides protection from harmful UV rays.
•    It is made with high thermal stability.
•    It comes with anti-fibrillation feature which helps in making woven sacks.
•    It improves the heat resistance capability of the yielded product, making it more durable in high temperature.
•    Also imparts resistance capacity to the products against weathering conditions.
•    It is also suitable for film packaging.
Industrial applications of White Masterbatch:
•    It is used in the thick and thin-walled processes like injection, blow and extrusion Moulding.
•    As the material is safe, that is why it is used in food packaging applications.
•    It is used in the manufacturing of high- speed machines.
•    It is also used in making non-woven fabrics.
•    It is used in the manufacturing of bottles, caps, water tanks, disposable cups and other consumer products.

The Masterbatch is considered as an important element of plastic making industries and the most desired material by all the manufacturers. The daily activities are completed by these plastic product and these products achieve their colors and properties from  Black Masterbatch. So, we can imagine how important masterbatches are in our daily life. In today’s world, this material has brought a tremendous change in the plastic industry. In addition to that, the masterbatches help in manufacturing the plastic products in a more clean and eco-friendly way. They also add shapes and colors to the plastic products.
