CAT 2017 will be held online in the 2nd week of November 2016. Through the exam, candidates will be selected for admission in MBA PG program in IIMs and other leading b-schools of the country. The exam will be held online and will contain a mix of descriptive and multiple choices questions. Official notification of the exam will be issued in the 1st week of July 2017 and it is likely that IIM Bangalore will conduct the exam this year. The application form of the exam will be released in the 1st week of August 2017 and it will be available till 2nd week of September 2017. The form will be limited to online mode only. Fee for the form will be Rs.1600 and Rs.800 for unreserved and reserved category candidates respectively. Admit card of the exam will be issued in the 2nd week of October 2017 and it will be needed to carry the admit card to the exam hall.

CAT 2017 is the prestigious management entrance examination that will be conducted to offer admission to interested and eligible candidates in MBA PG program for session 2018-20. Admissions will be granted on the basis of merit in all the IIMs of the country as well as leading B-Schools and management institutes. It is speculated that this year’s CAT will be conducted by IIM Bangalore. The exam will be held in online mode in the 2nd week of November 2016. No detailed schedule or official brochure has been released for the exam yet, and it is likely to be published in the 1st week of July 2016.

CAT 2017 Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidate must have completed graduation or should be in the final year examination of the graduation.
  • Final year candidates will be required to complete their degree and submit proof of the same before deadline.
  • Minimum aggregate percentage in the degree is 50% and 45% for unreserved and reserved candidates respectively.

CAT 2017 Exam Pattern

There will be three sections in the examination - Quantitative ability (QA), Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DILR), and Verbal and Reading Comprehension (VRC). The number of questions in QA, DILR, and VRC will be 34, 32, and 34 respectively. Thus, the total number of multiple choices questions in the exam will be 100 which have to be solved within 3 hours. For every section, only 60 minutes will be given. For every correct answer, 3 marks will be given whereas for every incorrect answer, 1 mark will be deducted. No negative marking for non-MCQs. Answers for some questions in these sections will need to be typed.

CAT Application Form 2017

  • Application Form of CAT 2017 will be issued in the 1st week of August 2017 and can be filled till 2nd week of September 2017 (tentatively).
  • The form will be limited to online mode only. It can be filled on the official website of the exam. No physical application form will be issued.
  • Direct link of the application form will be hosted on EntranceCorner website, along with other necessary instructions and form related queries.
  • In the form, candidate has to provide correct and complete information apart from uploading scanned images of signature and thumb impression.
  • Fee for application form for general category candidates will be around Rs.1600. For reserved category candidates, the fee will be around Rs.800.


Admit Card of CAT 2017

Admit card will be released in online mode in the 2nd week of October 2017. No candidate will be allowed to take the exam if he doesn’t produce original admit card and a valid photo ID proof at the exam venue. Admit card will specify – exam day and date, exam venue address and code, and exam session time.
