What to do When HP Printer does not Respond in Windows 10


HP makes variants of printers model, based upon customer needs which include printers for homes, home office, business, commercial and industrial presses. If you have HP Printer not responding Windows 10, then you need to go through following steps to troubleshoot the issues:


1. Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor which automatically performs several troubleshooting tasks.


  • Open HP Print and Scan Doctor.

  • Click Start on the Welcome screen.

  • Make sure the printer is connected and turned On.

  • If the printer is not shown on the screen, just make sure the printer is turned On and Connected.

  • Click on My Product is not listed.

  • Click on Retry.

  • Select your printer model.

  • Click on Next.

  • If it detects the connection problem.

  • Click on the method being used to connect the printer.

  • Follow the on-screen instructions.

  • Click on Retry.


2. Disable firewall software on the computer.


  • Uninstall the HP driver and software.

  • Disconnect the USB cable from the computer, if the printer connects to the computer with a USB cable.

  • In the Windows, search for Programs and Features.

  • Click on Programs and Features.

  • Click on HP printer name in the list of installed programs.

  • Click on Uninstall or Yes.

  • Follow the on-screen instructions and uninstall the HP printer.

  • Restart your computer.

  • Now, reinstall the printer with Windows built-in driver.

  • To reinstall the printer, open the Windows Device Installation Settings.

  • Now, check if the computer is set to automatically download driver software.

  • Connect the printer to the computer using USB cable or through the local network.

  • Windows detects the printer with the print driver installation.

  • Now, you need to select the Printer connection type.

  • Use the Windows Add a Printer wizard to install the built-in driver.

  • Follow the instructions.

  • Now, print and scan the documents.
