The growth of technology has experienced many changes in the recent couple of decades. Advancements are being made on a rapid scale and innovations are being made on a wide basis. Thus, the use of personal computers and the internet too, has grown significantly which are why most people are seen owning computers of their own. However, along with a number of benefits, this has brought along some disadvantages too, which includes the loss of data on a regular basis.

Various problems can often occur with computers due to which they tend to crash or malfunction, which in turn results in the eradication of all data stored on the internal hard drive. Thus, it is often advised that one uses an external hard drive that can be connected to the computer via a USB chord, in order to save data on it and create a backup. Doing so will help one to retain their data within a back up source even if the internal hard drive on their computer crashes for some reason and loses all information.

Backing up data on an external hard drive can be an easy process, even thought it initially might sound and seem complicated. However, one can recover data using a specific procedures made up of various steps that must be followed in a sequence.

Firstly, one must attach the external hard drive to the computer and start it normally. Now, they must download a program that is used for data recovery purposes known as PC inspector, and this program must be installed on the internal hard drive of the computer.

Next, one must run this program on the computer and choose from a variety of option whether they want to recover erased data, or find lost data etc. Once one of these options is selected and clicked on, the program will start searching for data that was lost pr previously deleted, and this data can be restored to the hard drive itself.

However, one can also copy and paste data from the external hard drive back to the computer if they want to do so, and clear out the hard drive.

Backups are thus evidently the easiest way of storing data. Music, video and image files mostly are heavy files and take up lots of space on a hard drive. Thus, depending on the amount of data one has, they will often have to calculate the size of the external hard drive they will need. Mostly, a 20 GB hard drive should suffice in order to save a considerable amount of information to it.
