How to Record Audio With Windows 10 Voice Recorder App

Microsoft Windows 10 already comes with the Voice Recorder app, so you don’t need to download any voice recorder app to record audio on your system. Just launch the Windows 10 inbuilt Voice Recorder app and record lectures, interviews, conversations, and anything, what you want by just one click. The Voice Recorder app has many useful features, and they are also easy to use.

Here is how to use the Windows 10 Voice Recorder app.

How to download and install the Voice Recorder app in Windows 10

Although every Windows 10 comes with the Voice Recorder app if you’ve removed it or it doesn’t come with yours then you can go to Microsoft Store to download the original Voice Recorder app.

1.    Launch the ‘Microsoft Store.’

2.    Find the ‘Windows Voice Recorder’ app.

3.    And select the app from the top of the result.

4.    Click on the ‘Get’ button.

5.    Wait to complete, and the app is in your system.

Launch the app and start recording on your device.

How to use the Windows 10 Voice Recorder app

The app and its features are very simple to use, only the one thing you need is a working microphone.

Steps for recording audio:

Tip: Press the ‘Ctrl + R’ button on your keyboard to start recording immediately.

Or

1.    Launch ‘Start.’

2.    Search for ‘Voice Recorder.’

3.    And start the app.

4.    Click on the ‘Microphone’ icon.

That’s it! The recording has started.

Use the button given on the screen to pause and stop recording. Click on ‘Flag’ button to add marker in the recording. When the recording is complete (stop) it will automatically save into the “Sound recordings” folder in the “Documents” folder.

Steps for playing recorded audios:

1.    Launch ‘Start.’

2.    Search for ‘Voice Recorder.’

3.    And start the app.

4.    Select the ‘Recording,’ which you want to listen from the middle pane.

5.    Click the ‘Play’ button to start listening.

The audio is playing, and you can use the button to pause or stop playing.

Steps for trimming an audio recording:

If you want to trim an audio recording that you have recorded, then read below steps to crop the audio track.

1.    Launch ‘Start.’

2.    Search for ‘Voice Recorder.’

3.    And start the app.

4.    Select the ‘Recording,’ that you want to trim from the middle pane.

5.    Click on ‘Trim’ button. The third icon from the bottom right corner.

6.    Move the pins to select the part of the audio.

7.    Click on ‘Save a copy’ button to save it as new audio.

8.    Click on ‘Save’ button at the same place as the trim button.

That’s it! The audio is cropped and saved in your device.

Steps for renaming an audio file:

Voice Recorder app automatically gives a name to every recording you saved. You can rename a recorded file to find it easily.

1.    Launch ‘Start.’

2.    Search for ‘Voice Recorder.’

3.    And start the app.

4.    Select the ‘Recording,’ that you want to rename from the middle pane.

5.    Click on ‘Rename’ button next to the dotted icon at the bottom right corner.

6.    Type a name into the opened text field.

7.    Then click ‘Rename’ button.

That’s it! The audio file will be saved with the name you have entered.

Steps for sharing recorded audio:

If you want to share a recorded file with your friend or anyone on social media then here is how.

1.    Launch ‘Start.’

2.    Search for ‘Voice Recorder.’

3.    And start the app.

4.    Select the ‘Recording,’ that you want to share from the middle pane.

5.    Click on the ‘Share’ button at the bottom right corner.

6.    Then follow the on-screen to share.
