How to prepare for CLAT 2014

The Common Law Admission Test is a gateway to get admission and study law in reputed National Law Universities of the country. This test was first started in 2008 by NLSIU-Bangalore. Since then, more than one lakh students have appeared for this examination. Previously, every law school in India used to conduct separate law examinations. This process was quite hectic and hence, a common examination known as CLAT was introduced to select candidates from all over India.

Cracking the CLAT is not a difficult task at all. You can very easily secure good marks here. There are five important papers in this exam which can be solved very easily by following few simple tips. By following these tips you can prepare yourself for this law entrance examination.

Let us first of all start with English. This paper mainly consists of comprehension. Examinees are asked to read a paragraph and answer a few questions. Marks can be secured here very easily if one has practiced comprehension reading. This can be done by improving the vocabulary and by practicing. A strong command over grammar is also necessary, as there is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for using the wrong word in a sentence. You can also refer to some of the best books of English Grammar that are easily available in the market.

General Knowledge is an important area where it might be quite difficult to secure marks. However, you can secure good marks here also by keeping yourself updated every day about the latest happenings in India and around the world. You should read newspaper and keep a track of the important news. General Knowledge is one area where you do not need any help. You can prepare it all by yourself. Sample papers of previous years can be of immense help in this case as you can come to know some of the common questions that comes every year or can also purchase the CLAT 2014 General Knowledge book.

The subject of Logical Reasoning mainly consists of topics like coding-decoding, Blood relations and Age relation. The only way to gain expertise here is by practicing the problems as well as solving various kinds of questions. Preparing solved questions of previous years always prove to be an added benefit.

Mathematics is a subject that most of the students are afraid of. But, if your fundamentals in mathematics are clear and if you love the subject then you can certainly secure good marks in the subject. They mainly consist of questions on profit & loss, distance & speed and age problems. Even here practice plays an important role. You should solve one or two sets of questions every day.

Legal Aptitude is an important subject where a student should try to secure as much score as possible. Securing a high score here improves the overall ranking of a student. This section mainly consists of questions from the Indian constitutions and politics.

In addition to applying the above mentioned tips, another most important thing to take care of is time. You should be able to solve all the questions within two hours. The best way to do this is to pick up a sample paper of any year and doing a self mock test practice. Keep a track over time and watch whether you are able to finish the paper within an hour's time or not.
