by Les Marjan social

If you have braids, then your morning time spent on styling can be deducted to half. However, braids can also face wear and tear, and you need to know how you can keep up or maintain your braids hair so that they can last long. They can help you in styling your hair for any occasion in a few minutes. But if their maintenance is neglected, then there can be issues with quality that you need to face.

Here we have shortlisted few tricks to help you in maintaining your braids with you:

 Wear scarf at night:

While sleeping, you must wear a scarf while going to bed. The scarf to be used should be made up of satin or silk. This trick is important for everyone, whether you have braids or not. The smooth texture of the scarf will prevent the braids from frizzing and keep your edges fresh. It will also keep your roots moisten and prevent them from drying out. If you do not have silk or satin head scarves, you can use a satin pillowcase on your pillow for similar protection.

Pamper the edges of your braid:

Every few weeks, you need to check the roots, and you will see that they have grown out, and here is the time to freshen up the braids. One of the best tips to help you is to rebraiding your entire head is the only solution. First, try to reinstall the strands along the hairline side. Once you have the braids out along the edges, you can deep condition and detangle them before reinstalling them. This needs to be done regularly, so watch your steps cautiously to trim and detangle your edge once in a while.

Moisten your scalp:

It should be done twice or thrice a week, and you can use a quality base leave-in conditioner. It will help you and prevent your wavy hair from drying out, leading to breakage at times. You can use water at room temperature as it is the best solution to be used every morning with other natural oils like almond oil or coconut oil.

Always prep your hair and scalp with lightweight lotions and moisturizing oils to help the hair strands retain moisture and serve you well when your hair is twisted in beautiful braids away from natural oil production.

Wash your braids:

The regular usage of products and sweats can be damaging for the hair, making it important to wash them once in 14 days. If you do not like to stand in the shower and also douse the braids with water, then you do not need to. Try using dry shampoo, or you can even dry wash the hair with the help of dampening the wash cloth with shampoo and water. You can make a parting to the hair and wipe the scalp into sections.

Never leave your braids for a long time:

Always remember that protective styling is always for the short term. Here you should keep your braids just for eight weeks, and any longer than that can stretch out and eventually cause damage resulting in breakage. Keeping them for more than eight weeks can leave you with hair loss, scalp issues, etc.

The above stated list of tips can help you in keeping your braids in best form for the long term. Try using them regularly to keep your hairstyle in best conditions.
