iPhone and iPad automatically change the orientation of the screen from portrait to landscape when you rotate the device.

This function, at times, could be very annoying, for example when we are lying on the bed reading an email or surfing the internet and we slightly bend the device, slightly folding the device, the screen may rotate automatically. That's why it is important to know the procedure that allows you to lock the orientation of the screen on iPhone and iPad .

Activating the orientation lock on iOS and iPadOS devices is really very simple, we explain how to do it in the next paragraphs.

How to turn off automatic screen orientation on iPhone and iPad

The automatic screen orientation lock is available within the control center. The procedure varies slightly depending on the device in your possession, but still remains very easy to perform, here is what you need to do:

·         Open the Control Center (if you are using an iPad or iPad fairly recent and without the Home button, such as an iPhone X or a later model: scroll down from the top right edge of the screen. If you are using it instead an iPhone with a home button, such as an iPhone 8 or a later model, scroll up from the bottom of the screen.)

·         Click on the "Block" icon

At this point the switch icon will turn red and the orientation lock will be activated.

With the orientation lock activated, you can even lie on your side and use Safari or YouTube without the device going into landscape mode.

This feature is very convenient, but it is not recommended to always keep it active, as it may make it impossible or in any case very uncomfortable to use certain apps, so we recommend you activate the screen orientation lock only in case of need.

To deactivate it, simply access the Control Center and press the "Block" icon again .
