The world of internet is full of wonders. Through social media you can catch up with old and lost friends, form new alliances and share your memories. Although most of the experience on social networking websites is pleasant but often some obnoxious person can spoil your mood.

Also known as a ‘troll’, this person or persons hide behind his or her computer screen. And, they needlessly want to create disruption on the internet and to your privacy. Often, for no valid reason they want to cause trouble. Internet trolling can get very nasty and is no longer a laughing matter when the personal attacks on you are actual threats.

Why do Trolls Troll?

It is important to understand that all internet trolls have their own reasons to cause disruption. Take for example, the Indian social networking sites. Experts are today ranking the hate spreaders as; attention-seeking, depressed, jealous, sad, angry, narcissistic or just unaware of their own consciousness.

Since trolling is very easy to do and can be done by staying hidden or anonymous from everyone, a new term can be used for the trolls – ‘’Keyboard Warrior’’. They sit behind the keyboard, use different online names and avatars, to feel stronger.

Here is how you can handle trolling on social networking websites in 4 easy steps –

1.      Play the Psychological Game

Trolls look to attack you at your weakest point of your privacy. It may seem personal but not to them. It is his or her regular business. They are just want to mentally break you.

Be aware if the trolling is causing you anxiety on even the best Indian social networking sites. And make yourself believe that those persons are doing their ‘’job’’. So you do not need to ‘’buy’’ anything they are selling you.

2.      Ignore them

Silence is the best weapon. Do not give any reaction to online trolling. This will further make the trolls angry. But you can simply let them be. And enjoy the life on Indian social networking sites.

3.      Report/Block Options

Although some people question social media for being silent when it comes to cyber hate. Yet, these social networking websites have report/block and mute buttons on them.

For instance, the ‘’mute’’ button on micro-blogging site Twitter is quite helpful when you want to carry your own activity without getting disturbed.

 4.      Complain to Cyber Police

If you feel that cyber hate is beyond your control, or if you receive death threats or abuse, then approach the police. You can also register your complaint to cyber police who have experts that can track down the individual threatening you and punish them.

Remember to take screenshots of all the hate mail or comments written at you on best Indian social networking sites before showing it to the cops.
