How to Get Rid of Dark Circles and Puffy Eyes?

by Ankita Sehgal Freelance Blogger, Lives in New Delhi

We live in a time and age when the phrase ‘good night, sweet dreams’ has gotten redundant. How many of us actually have 8 hours at our disposal just to sleep? And the few hours that we do aren’t sound. If less sleep is our karma then payback is dark circles and bags under eyes. Other reasons that cause dark circles and puffy eyes include allergies and nasal congestion, atopic dermatitis, pigmentation irregularities, sun exposure, etc. These factors are beyond our control but what are controllable though are dark circles. Read on to know some simple and quick ways to get rid of dark circles and eye puffiness.

Sleep on your back and use an extra pillow

The next time you want to sleep and dream of no dark circles make sure you sleep on your back with an extra pillow. This will prevent the fluid to accumulate during the night.

Cool Down

You can reduce the appearance of dark circles and puffy eyes to a bare minimum by exposing them to a cooler temperature. It constricts the blood vessels. That reduces swelling causing the dark circles to vanish temporarily. Your anti-dark circle's weaponry can include cucumber slices, potato slices, gel eye masks and tea bags.

Keep your choice of defense over your eyes and see the magic unfold in 10-15 minutes.

Tea bags

It’s no surprise that tea contains caffeine. What might be surprising is that it contains natural tannins, which are a mild diuretic that helps get rid of eye puffiness. Soak the tea bags in warm water and refrigerate them for a few minutes before finally settling them on your eyes. Take them off after five minutes and find yourself looking fresher.

Use essential oils

Essential oils are a great remedy to undo dark circles. Our top picks include rose geranium, fennel, lavender, German chamomile, and rosemary. Mix them with coconut oil and apply this magical concoction under your eyes.

Stay hydrated

The simplest way to combat puffy eyes is to stay hydrated. Dehydration makes the body retain water as much as it can, which ultimately leads to puffiness. Dermatologists in Delhi and all over India recommend drinking 2-3 liters of water every day.

Eat foods consisting vitamin C

Remove the darkness under your eyes by consuming vitamin C-rich food products. They help your body produce collagen, which, in turn, keeps your skin including the under eye skin healthy and hydrated. Foods like yellow, red and green bell peppers, guava, kale, strawberries, broccoli, sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, strawberries, blueberries, blackberries raspberries, oranges, grapefruit, lemon, etc. should be your go-to options.

Remember not to sprinkle salt over these as excessive sodium causes water retention resulting in eye puffiness.

If your dark circles are stubborn and the above measures are less effective, then get rid of them permanently, clinically. Advance Procedures for Dark Circles Treatment like MedLite, Exilis Elite, Aayna miracle, clear lift, etc. are available now in India. Opt for the one the dermatologists suggest is suitable for your skin.

Try these and never shy away from looking into the mirror and asking it the most obvious question. We’re sure it wouldn’t have second thoughts with the answer.
