How to Fix a Wireless Internet Connection on Windows?

by computerservice Hub computer repair services

Wireless networking backstage is wider and more complex. Wireless connection problems can be very frustrating, especially when they are at work. Many things can cause a Wi-Fi connection to fail. Below is a list of the most common steps to solve this problem. Fix wireless internet connection when not working in Windows 10.

  • Verify Wi-Fi is enabled from the computer: If your computer or keyboard has a Wireless button, check it is turned on. If your computer or keyboard has an Airplane button, check it is turned off and wait for 10 seconds. In Windows, click the Wi-Fi connection icon. Choose your wireless network, and then select Connect. Enter the password, if prompted. Try to connect to the Internet. If the wireless connection still does not work, proceed to the next step.
  • Troubleshoot the wireless connection: Run Windows Troubleshooter to automatically diagnose and resolve Internet connection issues. On Windows, right-click the taskbar wireless connection icon, and then select Troubleshoot Problems. Read and respond to the screen prompts you to resolve the wireless connection. If the troubleshooter is completed and the problem is not resolved select Close, and then proceed to the next step.
  • Update the wireless driver: Update the wireless network driver in the Device Manager. Select Start, type Device Manager, and then select From Results. Expand network adapters, and then right-click on your wireless network driver. Select Update Driver, and then select automatically search for updated driver software. Search the computer and the Internet for Windows Update Driver and install one if available. Try connecting to the Internet again. If updating the driver does not resolve the issue, proceed to the next step.
  • Reset the hardware: Reset your modem, wireless router and computer to try to resolve wireless connection issues. Turn off the computer, and then separate any cables, including the power cable. If using a laptop with a removable battery, slide the battery release latch, and then remove the battery. Hold down the power button for 15 seconds, and then reconnect the power cord or adapter to the computer and wall outlet. Do not reinstall the battery or other previously connected devices. Disconnect the power cord from any wireless router, or wireless or broadband modem, or gateway. Wait five seconds. Some modems have a backup battery. If the lights are on, remove the modem battery and wait 30 seconds. Reconnect the battery and power cord with the wireless router and the broadband modem. On the router and modem, verify that all lights are turned on and show normal Internet and computer functionality, and then on the computer, hit the power button. If you have previously removed the battery from the laptop, turn off the computer, reinstall the battery, and then turn the laptop back on. If Windows does not automatically connect to your wireless network, choose the Wireless Connection icon. Select your wireless network name, and then select Connect. Enter the password if prompted. Open a web browser to re-check your Internet connection.
