How to fill cartridge in canon printer?

by Christina White Canon Printer Support Number Canada
Today, printers are common in homes and offices, offering affordable prices for most people who already own a computer. When replacing ink cartridges, however, a problem arises. Most authentic ink cartridges cost almost as much as the printer itself. Even taking your empty cartridge to a refill station, costs approximately 50% of the price of a new cartridge.

Whether you live on a tight budget or just a cheaper way to replace the ink of your Canon printer, refilling the ink itself is a great alternative to replace your cartridge or pay for a refill. Here are the simple steps to find out how to fill up your cartridge with basic tools that you can now find at your own home.

  • Take the empty cartridge out from the printer and peel off the sticker, keeping it in a safe place (you will be putting this back later). Under the sticker is exactly where you'll be drilling the hole
  • Locate the fill holes under the label. As the breather holes are too small to fit a needle through, enlarge them using a drill tool or a small drill bit. It's ok to use an electric drill, but don't get too carried away. The cartridge is filled with felt material and it is easy to damage it if the drill bit goes in too far.
  • Once you've made your holes, insert a toothpick into each one. You will be using the toothpick as a dipper to check which color of ink to put into which cartridge.
  • Inject the ink using a syringe/needle. Don't rush this step, or you'll make a mess. As you can't see the ink levels, your first clue that the cartridge is full is when the ink overflows. Holding a folded tissue up against the needle is the best way to prevent the ink spilling over and making a mess. Another way is to pause injecting and inspect the printhead (on the underside) after injecting 1ml, 2ml etc.
  • When the cartridge is full, the ink will start leaking through the printhead. When that happens, suck some ink back out (with the syringe) until the leak stops. Don't take much ink at all and leak, if too much is injected. Don't fit a leaking cartridge in the printer! If you do...any ink that leaks out can contaminate the other colors...so don't!
  • Replace the stickers you removed earlier, covering each hole. If the sticker is damaged or will not stick, use some duct tape or masking tape to seal the holes. Regular scotch or cello-tapes won't adhere for long and can get stuck and jam your printer, so avoid using these.
  • Put the cartridges back into the printer and then give a command for a test page print. If your printer still indicates the cartridge is low on ink, even after refilling, just press and hold the resume button or reset button for 5-10 seconds, and your printer will begin printing.
