How to build effective long-distance client relationships in 2019

by Mahender Bist CEO
Today, a client may be based right in your neighborhood or overseas. Gone are the days when businesses only relied on local clients. And because of this, the way client relationships are managed has really changed. Organizations are now required to explore new and practical ways to remain connected with far-away clients. Thanks to fresh innovation in technology, many businesses are interacting with far-off clients via different communication channels. But is that enough?

Below are tips to help you build reliable connections with prospects and maintain an excellent relationship with your current customers – no matter their locations.

1. Come up with a communication process which works for both of you

Since you will be unable to meet long-distance-clients in-person regularly, it’s advisable to take the necessary steps to reduce and de-emphasize the distance between the two of you. Among the easiest ways, you can achieve this is by creating a regular communication cycle with your far-away client. This seemingly straightforward solution can transform your disadvantage (lack of proximity), to an advantage.

But remember, when working with remote clients, you are restricted to only a few options for communication, such as phone calls, video chats, or emails. Whatever method you choose, ensure you leverage the one which they are most comfortable with and set a frequency of your calls from the onset.

2. Make transacting business easy for your long-distance clients

Make doing business with you as effortless for your far-flung clients as possible. Like we mentioned earlier, nowadays, your clients do not have to be based in the same geographical area to complete a transaction or validate a contract. Clients can use electronic signatures to transact business from hundreds of miles away if needed, thus increasing your business opportunities and potential profit margins.
