How to Apply For a PAN Card

alphanumeric number issued by the Income Tax authority to a person who is
obligatory to pay Income Tax. However, it isn't required for all residents to
have a PAN card, be that as it may, since it is an obligatory document for some

How to apply for a PAN card?
Application form 49A is a form through which a resident
of India can apply for a PAN card. Whereas, Application form 49AA is a form
through which NRI and foreign citizens.
Offline PAN Card Application process
In case if you want to furnish the PAN Card application
form, you need to follow the below-mentioned steps:
Step 1: Download Form 49A
OR Form 49AA from the UTIISL OR NSDL site and take a printout of it.
Step 2: Fill all required
details mentioned in the PAN Application form.
Step 3: Attach
self-certified duplicates of ID proof, date of birth, address evidence along
with 2 photos.
Step 4: Submit the
application form with all the self-attached documents to the closest PAN card
center alongside a cheque or demand draft of 118 INR as the processing and
handling fees for your PAN card application.
Step 5: Post submission of
your PAN card application form, you will get the PAN card at the address
mentioned in the form within 15 working days.
Online PAN Card application process
In case if you want to furnish the PAN Card application
form online, you need to follow the below-mentioned steps:
Step 1: Visit on either the
TIN NSDL site or the UTISL site for online application.
Step 2: Click on the apply
button and select your category.
Step 3: You will be
redirected to a new page showing the application form.
Step 4: Fill in the PAN
Card application form with all the mandatory details.
Step 5: When the form is
filled, you need to submit all the mandatory documents such as birth
certificate, address proof, and ID proof along with your photograph and
signature.
Step 6: Post-uploading the
documents you need to click the submit button.
Step 7: After submitting
you will be redirected to the payment page wherein you need to fill the
processing and handling fees.
Step 8: Once the payment is
made, an affirmation receipt bearing a 15 digit number will get generated. You
need to send this acknowledgment receipt to the NSDL or UTISL.
Step 9: After the
acknowledgment receipt is received at the NSDL office you will receive the PAN
at the address mentioned in the form within 15 working days.
List of Required Documents
1. For Identity (ID) Proof
i. Any ID issued by the government, for example, AADHAAR
card, Driving License, Voter ID, health care card, and so
forth.
ii. Pensioner Card with photo
iii. Arms License
iv. Bank certificate gave on the letterhead of the bank
and confirmed by the giving official. The certificate ought to have an attested
photo along with a bank account number.
2. For Proof of Age
i. Birth certificate issued by the Municipal Authority
ii. Registration certificate
iii. Driving License
iv. Marriage certificate
v. Pension Payment order
vi. Passport
3. For Address Proof
i. Any utility bill issued by the government department,
for example, electricity bill, gas bill, water bill, and so on.
ii. Postpaid connection bill
iii. Bank or credit card statement
iv. Passbook of Post office account
v. Residence certificate issued by the Indian Government
