Changes to the fencing

The building certifier for the area will have to approve the pool before the filling can be done, and check that the pool fencing is adequate. In another 6 months after the construction, you will be inspected again to make sure that the pool is secure, if the pool structure is connected to the property. If there is a gap between the building and the pool then you must make sure that the pool is inspected within two years.

Registering under the new laws

These new laws mean that you have to register yourself with the state, becoming part of the Pool Safety Register. This has been designed to list all regulated pools, including those that hold safety certificates, and all safety inspectors licenced to inspect pools in the area. The owners of the pool must make sure that they are registered.

The fencing barriers

Part of meeting the new requirements is making sure that your pool barriers meet the new law. The barriers must be 1200 millimetres from bottom to top, and there must be no climbable objects nearby which could hinder the process.
