How Safe Are Utah Drivers, Really?

Vehicles travel at a wide range of speeds while on Interstate 15, whether heading northbound to Salt Lake City or southbound to St. George, Utah. Some vehicles travel a comfortable 65 miles per hour, while others zoom past the normal flow of traffic pushing 90 miles per hour. Occasionally, the roads of Utah have drivers that forget to flick their blinker to switch lanes or make a hard left turn at the last second, causing an accident.
Auto accidents are inevitable, even on the most rural of roads. Furthermore, some crashes on the streets of Utah require the presence of a lawyer to settle the case. One thing is certain: driving can be a dangerous activity for drivers from Logan to St. George. So where does Utah fall into place for its automotive safety?
Fortunately for the state of Utah, it recently ranked 43rd out of 51 (including the District of Columbia) in a study conducted by CarInsuranceComparison.com with statistics provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The closer to 51 a state is ranked, the safer and more conscientious its drivers (and they make fewer trips to the office of a lawyer). The study also reported that Utah securely ranked No. 49 for drunk driving, which has prevented many an accident.
Every driver knows that each state is bound to encounter some bumps in the road, and Utah is no exception. The Beehive State disappointingly ranked No. 5 for “failure to obey” automotive laws such as traffic signals, seat belts and invalid driver licenses.
It is also common knowledge that disobedience to traffic laws can lead to an unwanted auto accident. With distractions finding new ways into cars, it has never been easier to end up in an agonizing fender-bender or a more serious automotive incident that needs the aid of a lawyer. The importance of driving safely blares louder than the horn of an 18-wheeler truck heading south to St. George.
Utah drivers do score some added bonus points for being capable of driving in all weather climates, but Mother Nature won’t favor all roads to be auto accident-free. Safe driving is an absolute must for all roads, regardless of hustle-and-bustle traffic. No driver wants the added stress and pressure of dealing with a lawyer because a tube of mascara fell between the seats.
So pledge to be a safe driver and clear the roads of all auto accidents. “Click-it or ticket,” slow down and keep those eyes on the road, St. George drivers.
