How Much CRS Score Required For Canada PNP?

by Nationwide Visas Canada Immigration Services

When you apply for Canada PR, the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score required is 1200 points. If you apply through Express Entry and acquire a low CRS Score, you can apply through PNP, which gives additional 600 points to your current Express Entry CRS Score. Hence, increasing your chances of getting an Invitation to Apply (ITA). PNP also permits you to apply for permanent residency to IRCC (Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada) depending on the PNP stream you choose.

That being said, the requirement of points for more Canada PNP is not necessarily in terms of CRS Score. Most PNPs don’t have a CRS structure, instead have their own set of point systems to evaluate the applicants. However, the Express Entry-aligned PNOP stream invites candidates to keep an eye on their Express Entry pool status and points.

If you don’t know how much CRS Score is required for Canada PNP, this article has the answer for you.

Who is eligible to apply for Canada PNP?

The Canadian government has different PNPs with individual eligibility requirements. The programs under this category allow provinces to meet specific requirements for individuals applying for immigration to get in-demand jobs and meet labor shortages.

Most Provincial Nominee Programs need you to have some connection to the province. Either you must have worked or studied there. Else, you must have an offer of employment in that province. This will guarantee you 600 CTS points to the Express Entry application, thus, making you eligible for Canada PR Visa.

Steps to Apply for Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)

You need 67 points or more out of 100, which will make you eligible to apply for Canada PR. Following are the steps you must take to apply for Canada’s Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) -

STEP 1 - Check Eligibility for PNP

Determine your eligibility for PNP through Canada CRS Calculator. Choose from the list of PNPs and see under which PNP you are eligible.

STEP 2 - Submit Visa Application

Once you have selected the PNP, submit the application for provincial nomination.

STEP 3 - Get a PNP Certificate

If your visa application is assessed by the authorities, you will be nominated for provincial permanent residence.

STEP 4 - Submit your PR application

Submit your Canada PR visa application to IRCC. If your provincial nomination is in line with the Express Entry Program, there are two ways to apply - online or paper-based.

  • If you are applying for Canada PNP through Express Entry (online)

You must create a profile online under Express Entry. In the profile, you must mention that you have been nominated by a province or territory in Canada. Once you get a confirmation for a provincial nomination, you will enter the Express Entry pool and receive additional 600 points for the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) Score. These additional points will promise you an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canada Permanent Residence Visa.

  • If you are applying for Canada PNP through a paper-based process

If not online with the Express Entry program, you can apply for Canada PNP offline too. This is a paper-based process. After you receive your provincial nomination, you must submit your paper application for Canada PR to Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) with a Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) and a medical examination certificate. Note that paper-based processes take a longer time than online processes. Also, the normal visa application processing time for a PR visa through Express Entry is 6 months. However, a paper-based application process takes an average of 18 months.
