Overview

PCOS or polycystic ovarian syndrome can be understood as a hormonal disorder that usually takes place in the reproductive age of a woman. If someone suffers from problems like PCOS, she might face an imbalance in their hormones as well as metabolism problems. The chances of their reproductive hormones may appear to be out of balance and some problems linked to ovaries may appear like delayed or completely missed menstrual periods.

Types of PCOS

Do you have any idea that in how many types this syndrome has been divided? Well, the answer from our side will be four. The kinds of PCOS include insulin-resistant PCOS, pill-induced PCOS, inflammatory PCOS, and hidden PCOS. We will try to cover all four separately to let you understand their differences.

1. Insulin-resistant PCOS is considered as the most common kind of PCOS. Leptin and high insulin are two of the things which obstruct the ovulation among women and kindle the ovaries to make testosterone hormone. One of the causes behind insulin-resistant PCOS can be sugar, smoking, pollution, trans fat, etc. If someone wants to get rid of this kind of problem, they need to avoid sugar as much as possible. It will be better if they quit its consumption as a tiny amount of taking fructose can prove to be healthy but when taken in a larger amount, it can become a chief supplier to insulin resistance. If someone wants to have supplements for insulin resistance, they need to take things that are rich in magnesium.

2. The next we'll talk about is pill-induced PCOS that is supposed to be the second most common type of PCOS. It takes place due to birth control pills that can suppress ovulation. For most women, such types of effects don't last for long and they get able to ovulate when the effect of the pills gets finished. But there can be chances for some women where the suppression of ovulation can continue for a matter of months or even years.

3. Talking about inflammation-based PCOS, it is such a type of PCOS which can be seen in those women who don't experience weight gain, but usual weight or even underweight, and no classic symptoms are experienced by them regarding PCOS. The response of inflammation which stops ovulation and brings irregular cycle appears from the body's response to different foods like sugar, soy, dairy, gluten, or from overexposure to endocrine troublesome chemicals. Inflammation has been said to be a problem for PCOS because it hinders ovulation, stimulates adrenal androgens and disrupts hormone receptors. One of the treatment options will be diminishing stress and contact with environmental toxins like plastics and pesticides.

4. Hidden-cause PCOS has been said to be the simpler form of PCOS and different causes are there to see like thyroid disease, lack of iodine, intake of too much soy, too little starch, artificial sweeteners, or vegetarian diet as it causes the deficiency of zinc and ovaries of a woman requires zinc. If anything strange has been noticed in the body and has taken an effect for many days, there is a need to consult the problem with the doctor.
