Lip augmentation is in. People, especially women, are crazy to give their lips a plumper and full appearance. There are many injections with different compositions, such as hyaluronic acid, in the market for this job. Lip fillers in Gold Coast or globally are the most prominent injectables out of them, whose procedure takes just a few minutes. You can see an amazing difference in your looks afterwards.

Unfortunately, their effect is not permanent. But, aftercare can maximize its longevity. Simply put, you can maintain a plump pout for a long time.

Here are a few aftercare tips for those who have lip fillers:

·         Ice Pack or Ice Cubes for Easing Slight Swelling

A slight inflammation, redness and bruising in lips after the procedure are some common after effects, which go away in 2 or 3 days. So, you need not worry, as these are some minor and temporary side effects.  You can use ice pack or ice cubes wrapped in cloth to ease pinching pain.

·         Avoid Strenuous Exercise for 1 or 2 Days

Excessive workout elevates blood pressure. Your higher pulse rate due to exercise can make swollen lips look worse. Being engaged in light activities like walking is enough. You can ask for medications from your cosmetic physician if swelling does not calm down.

·         Lubricate Body

Healing becomes faster when you intake plenty of water. So, you can stay hydrated by drinking 6 to 8 glasses of water. You can eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, as these carry water in maximum quantity. Try to reduce ingesting sodium because it may worsen swelling.

·         Stay Away From High Temperature

High heat is an enemy of swollen lips. So, you should avoid being in the surrounding where temperature is high. Avoid being in steam rooms, saunas and heated exercise classes for at least 48 hours after the treatment.

·         Avoid Blood-Thinning Painkillers

Some patients are sensitive enough that they cannot endure the pain of injections. They should consult their cosmetic doctor about painkillers because the medicines like ibuprofen can thin your blood. This can hamper the healing of swollen lips.

·         Take  Filler A Month Or Weeks Before An Event

You may have certain events coming your way, wherein you want to look at your best. In this case, you should get it way before the event so that you can have enough downtime between the procedure and that event.

·         Sleep With Head Up on Pillows

When you are going to have a nap, try to keep your head elevated and up towards the ceiling. This tweak can reduce swelling. But, keeping it on the side or downwards can make it look worse.  Besides, don’t put on makeup on your lips for at least a day after this cosmetic treatment.

·         Avoid Smoking, Alcohol & Flight

As injurious, smoking can breed infection. So, don’t smoke immediately after getting fillers. Also, avoid getting involved in passive smoking. Like it, alcohol can turn inflammation and bruising worse. It dilutes blood, acting as a blood thinner. So, stay away from it at least a week before the procedure.

Likewise, taking a flight can increase your blood pressure, which has a negative impact on swelling and bruising.

Generally, it takes max to max four weeks for the filler to settle in and for patient to achieve desirable look. In the meantime, you should see the doctor if swelling and bruising seem unbearable.
