Consumption of plastic bags is on the decline due to the popularity of paper ones that are perfect for shopping, carrying, packing and storing things at home. These packs have many uses other than shopping and packing. Should the credit for removing plastic carriers from market go to the advent of paper carrier bags or the environmentalists should be credited for this commendable job?

To find the force that convinced people to shed plastic and embrace paper handbags, we have to study the evolution of both type of carriers and their growth. Also, we have to compare both the carriers to see their pros and cons.

Plastic bag

This bag came into being in and around 1950 that is almost a decade after the invention of the paper handbag. It came as an alternative to them but provided little help. Plastic is stretchable, and for this reason, it 's hard to hold the bulky plastic carrier in hands. The weight inside the carrier would push the carrier down, and the sack will slowly start slipping from hands.

Plastic suffocates its contents and also is a good conductor of heat. It isn’t good for keeping food items especially sweets like candies, chocolates and cakes. Fresh fruits and vegetables need fresh air to breathe, but plastic doesn’t allow air to pass through it. Plastic carrier reveals everything it contains. It can’t hold anything as it has no size or weight. It takes the shape of product it contains and also it uses the weight of its contents to become stable. But the biggest drawback of the plastic carrier is that it is harmful to the environment.

Paper bag

History of these carrier bags can be traced back to 1850 when the first bag made with paper was launched in marked. Since then its product manufacturers are making handbags of different sizes for different needs including shopping and fashion. Its advantage is that it is eco-friendly and it can be repurposed to change its use.

Paper for making sacks comes from a farm produce and not from woods. Bags made with this material are robust enough to withstand the bulk weight of shopping, and they are also suitable for keeping personal belongings like garments, footwear and books. Fashion bags are different as they come in attractive designs and patterns. These carriers have a definite size and weight that make them suitable for keeping everything from boxed goods to lose items and from round shaped gifts to bottles.

Plastic v/s Paper

While plastic came as an alternative to paper, it proved to be a disaster for the world. It polluted the nature and the water bodies including oceans. A plastic carrier is good for nothing because it is a foreign material that can never fit into our needs.

Paper is 100% natural. It has a warm touch and feels safe. These are good for shopping, and also they are great for fashion. Paper product manufacturers are producing a wide range of carrier bags wholesale to meet the huge demand for shopping and fashion trends. What is more exciting is that these packs can be repurposed to meet other needs as well.
