Academia
For science buffs, this network, designed by British entrepreneur Richard
Price in 2008, is specifically dedicated to the world of research. Similar
to ResearchGATE, created the same year by two virologists and a computer
scientist, Academia's primary goal is to develop a better understanding of scientific
research and to help researchers gain more visibility in the wider professional
community.
Viadeo
Marking its beginnings in 2004, the Viadeo network corresponds to LinkedIn in a French
way. Imagined in the Parisian capital, it allows you to build or
strengthen your professional network. It can be used to inform about your
experience and publish content in your area of expertise. Another point
in common with the American site: there is the possibility of creating a
"company" profile to communicate on its behalf.
Xing
His slogan ? For a better working life, translate that into "a
better working life". Mainly used in its country of origin but
available worldwide, the German platform created by Lars Hinrichs, entrepreneur
and local investor, offers discussion forums but also a News feed, otherwise called a news feed on which it is
possible to follow absolutely all the news and the content of your
contacts. However, some features on Xing are only available via premium subscription.
Indexfi
Over 350 experts. This is what this inter-professional tool dedicated
to law, accounting and finance brings together today. Originally qualified
as a directory, Indexfi has become a real social network with private messaging and
discussion forums. It also offers virtual lounges allowing easier contact
between experts and thus bringing better knowledge of the field of finance and
law.
