House Cleaning Made Easy

The spring is gone and the summer has arrived. If you didn’t clean your house around spring then it may mean either you couldn’t find time because of a busy schedule or that you’re not a cleaning enthusiast (not judging). Windows

Properly cleaned windows not only provide you a beautiful view of the outside, it also has practical advantages such as letting in a good amount of warm and bright sunlight. When cleaning windows, ensure you clean both the inside and the outside of the windows with a glass cleaning liquid. Use a scented cleaning formula for cleaning the insides of the windows for a house that looks clean and smells great! 

Bathroom

Before all the scrubbing and wiping, vacuum the bathroom properly, covering all the nooks and crannies. Use the crevice attachment to get into the tight/narrow spots. And as with the windows, pick out a scented cleaning liquid. Choose the one that is fresh-smelling and has anti-bacterial properties to keep the germs at bay.

Kitchen

Make a checklist of all the places that are hard to reach in the kitchen. For e.g., area under the fridge, top of the kitchen chimney, spaces underneath the microwave oven and other appliances, space under the gas stove, window mouldings,  light fixtures, etc. Tie a wet cloth/sock/sponge at the end of a long stick to reach the places that are difficult to clean.

Also, don’t forget to take out the trash as well as spoiled/expired food items that have been in storage for long. You’ll be surprised how much empty space will be created after you’re done cleaning.

Living & Dining Rooms

Clean out all the heaps of magazines, newsletters and mails lying around in the room. Donate any reading material that is educational/informative to charity organizations. And let a paper recycling company take care of the rest. If there are pieces that you’d still like to read, cut them out and store them in a folder.

Take out time to clean the china cabinets that store your dishes and other cutlery. Since, those items are not used regularly, they may be acquiring dust. Use a good cleaner with a movable head which can clean off the dust under plates and inside cups.

Bedroom

Your drawers are probably full of clothes - new and old - that you haven’t sorted in a long time. Clean and organize your drawers and nightstands. Take out clothes that you don’t wear anymore and put them in a box for donating. Separate the ones that need to be fixed (dry-cleaning, laundry, stitching, etc.). Now, organize the drawers by assigning separate drawers to each type of clothing. 

Beds also need regular maintenance. Start by washing the pillow cases and bed sheets. After that, dust off the mattress and flip it over. Clean the headboard by getting out the dust hiding in the crevices. In order to re-moisturize the wooden bed, use a spray for wood surfaces to add shine to it for a rejuvenated look.
