If you've ever encountered a frozen iPhone, you know how frustrating it can be. A frozen device can prevent you from accessing apps, making calls, or performing any functions. In such situations, a force restart can help resolve the issue and get your iPhone back up and running. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to force restart a frozen iPhone.

Note: Before proceeding with a force restart, make sure to save any unsaved data or files on your device, as a force restart may cause the loss of any unsaved information.

Force Restart on iPhone 6s and Earlier Models

  1. Locate the Home button, which is the circular button on the front of the iPhone.
  2. Simultaneously press and hold the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button (located on the top or right side of the device) together.
  3. Continue holding both buttons until you see the Apple logo appear on the screen.
  4. Once the Apple logo appears, release the buttons.
  5. Your iPhone will then restart, and you should be able to use it normally again.

Force Restart on iPhone 7 and 7 Plus

  1. Locate the Volume Down button, which is on the left side of the device.
  2. Locate the Sleep/Wake button on the right side of the device.
  3. Press and hold the Volume Down button and the Sleep/Wake button simultaneously.
  4. Keep holding both buttons until the Apple logo appears on the screen.
  5. Release the buttons when you see the Apple logo.
  6. Your iPhone will restart, and you can resume using it.

Force Restart on iPhone 8, 8 Plus, X, XR, XS, XS Max, 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max, SE (2nd generation), and 12 series

  1. Quickly press and release the Volume Up button, which is on the left side of the device.
  2. Quickly press and release the Volume Down button, which is also on the left side of the device.
  3. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button, located on the right side (or top) of the device, until the Apple logo appears.
  4. Release the Sleep/Wake button when the Apple logo appears.
  5. Wait for your iPhone to restart, and it should be unfrozen and ready for use.

Force restarting your frozen iPhone should resolve most software-related issues and restore functionality. However, if the problem persists, it may be necessary to seek additional support from Apple or visit an authorized service center.

Remember, a force restart should only be performed when your iPhone is unresponsive or frozen. It is different from a regular restart or turning off and on your device.
