Moving to a new home in dubai can be hard on everyone especially children. And if that home is the only place they have seen, that makes things all the more difficult.

Children of different age groups adapt differently to their new surroundings. For some, it can be like their entire world has gone upside down and for some it can be a fun experience as they are exploring a new area and can seem like a never ending vacation.

The entire idea of moving into a new neighborhood, making new friends, going to a new school, having new teachers etc can be a stressful affair. Once the movers & packers you have hired has done their job of getting your belongings from your old home to the new one, it is now time to ensure that your children don’t get too affected by the entire relocation process. A child may take out his frustration in a few ways, but as a parent, there are many ways to tackle this situation and make it a positive one for your child.

Here are a few tips:

Throw a party

One of the easiest and most effective ways to prepare your children for a move is to throw a farewell party. Like all relationships that end need closure, your child will get all the closure he or she needs from a farewell party even though it may be sad. Give the child complete freedom to invite all their friends and have a play time for the last time. Before everyone leaves, ensure that all contact details are exchanged so that your children can always have the friends they made from their previous home.

Keeping your children involved

Have your children help you throughout the entire packing process. Make the entire process fun. Ensure you play simple games like who packs boxes faster, who can spell the names of different items correctly and keep the entire process light. There’s no doubt the relocation process will be hard on your children. Keeping things light and fun for your children always helps to reduce the pressure. Inform the movers and packers about the needs of your children and ask them to interact with the children during the process also.

Keep them looking forward to the positive outcome

It can always be hard for people to believe that “all things happen for the good”. Keeping your children focused on looking forward and to the benefits of moving will greatly help their emotional well being.

Simple things like looking forward to a bigger bedroom or if the new home has a swimming pool, or the availability of a park right around the corner will make a huge difference in your child’s view of relocating.

Talking to your child in simple terms about the reasons for your move will be useful as they will be able to know why you are taking such a decision.

Take them on a tour of the neighborhood

It will be very good for your child if you can take him/her on a tour of the neighborhood where you are moving in to. Children always relate things to visual perspective. If they see the neighborhood and find something that they like there, they will quick be able to settle down with the idea of moving.
