He who gives is the one who shall cure
Let’s go into a flashback. Open up different puranas. Is there a doctor which is mentioned in any of them? Who treated people who got injured in world war? Who did the deliveries before doctors evolved? Is it so that the kids were not born without doctors or the people were not healed in the world war? No it’s not like that! Everything was done. Medicine is one such large field which very generic and can consist of almost anything and everything which is in the healthcare system. It could be like anything, diagnosis, treatment, prevention or anything about the specialized doctors.
One big term with sub branches in it. When a child plans to take up medicine as his career, he has lot many options which are open for him. Mind you, getting into medicine is no joke. Clearing off those entrances requires mind blowing intelligence and smartness. Earlier the medical admissions were based on 12th standard marks but it is not the same now. There are thousands of hurdles which you need to clear off to get those medicine seat. Once you are done and you get selected, selecting stream becomes important. If all know that there are so many specialized doctors which are all from different fields. M.B.B.S (bachelors of medicine, medicine of surgery) or it could be B.D.S (bachelors in dental surgery) or it could be any of the paramedical courses but for most of the extra specializations M.B.B.S is the base and then it could be reached. But this all is from the modernization world, who treated our forefathers?
Vedas! not many people must be aware of them but the people who visit village frequently because they are still there. People still believe that some decoration which they prepare will treat them because that is what they are following! Herbs and roots are helping them heal! The soldiers on world war three were their own doctors. For an instance, they used to carry gum acacia which was a substitute for blood plasma was used by them and the natural thing protected them and they could stay alive and work on the field before they lose their lives. The gum acacia was a substitute and it worked till they got any medical herb. Even today in India, whenever people fall sick, they prefer ‘Gharelu nuskas’ or homemade remedies to get rid of their cold and cough and went to the doctor at extreme cases. Ginger tea is still considered to be the best in treating cold or turmeric still acts as a wonder spice to cure diseases. Medicines are just not those artificial drugs which are available Over the counter or even with prescription. Medicine is a part of science which works on healing. And anything which heals is a medicine. Kitchen is the best place to get healers! Cold cough headache or any other thing, most of the spices can help you heal! By: Dt. Trishala Chopra
