On highways in St. George and throughout the state of Utah, many automobile drivers are undeniably terrified to drive behind—or next to—monstrous semi-trucks. People have so many things to focus on while they are operating a vehicle, and 18-wheelers are known for inflicting great amounts of stress on drivers. The bad news is that semis are not going anywhere, but Samsung has a mind-blowing trick up its sleeve that may prevent fatal auto accidents

Consumers in St. George and other cities in America are very familiar with Samsung, a well-known technology brand. But, how on earth are they building safer semi-trucks? That is not even part of their business, is it? Get ready, world, because Samsung believes it has found a way to look right through massive semi-trucks.

Recently, International Business Times reports the company unveiled its Samsung Safety Truck, a custom-built semi equipped with a camera and four TV monitors to allow passenger vehicle operators to see right through the truck as if it was a glass window. The motive was to make driving behind an 18-wheeler less hazardous and stressful. Manufacturers also hope to reduce the risk of auto accidents.

Samsung originally tested the vehicle on Argentina roads, which are notoriously dangerous and where many auto accidents happen, says CBS News. The innovative semi proved to be a success, and Samsung is now working with the South American country’s government to receive permits and approvals.

While it may have impressed traffic officials in the southern hemisphere, the truck isn’t likely to make its way to the streets in St. George and the rest of the United States any time soon. The concept is undoubtedly wicked cool, but North American officials aren’t sure if this is an urgent safety concern. They also wonder if the television monitors could become an additional distraction to drivers.

As if drivers don’t have enough distractions, right? They do have a point, but the rear monitors are strictly made to show drivers exactly what lies ahead of a semi-truck. That way, passenger vehicle operators in St. George and other cities in Utah can properly decide when it is safe to pass a semi—especially on two-lane roadways.

The Samsung Safety Truck is a new concept, and many consumers hope to see this bad boy on American roads one day. For now, though, the semi-truck needs to go through further safety tests. Auto accidents with semis are highly dangerous, and from the looks of it, technology is once again coming to the rescue. Drivers everywhere should be on the lookout for Samsung’s latest tech.
