Go Solo And Discover Yourself!
To travel is to live. Travel is the greatest experiment of life for it lets you discover yourself, and there is no end to the number of experiments one can make.
Our favorite traveller and photographer Andy Hayes from Oregon State Treasury has been to numerous places in this world and he says that every new destination has something new to offer. The mountains have made him immune to harsh conditions and the lakes have yielded a poet in him. The ways in which travel makes us better than yesterday are unlimited.
Also, Andy Hayes doesn’t mind travelling solo. He believes that unavailability of people around you doesn’t make up for a reason to not travel. Of course the thoughts of eating alone in a foreign land and crossing a dark alley at night are enough to hold us back but where there is a way, there is a way.
And this “way” takes us to self- discovery, sense of accomplishment and utter happiness. Here’s a list of tips that Andy Hayes from Oregon gives to all those people who’re set to go solo.
• What to pack: Travelling solo means you’ll have to carry the entire luggage on your own and even in the hours of tiredness, you have to solely take care of your belongings. So pack as less as possible and don’t forget to keep things like ID proofs and a good book.
• Open up: While travelling alone, it’s important to open up and meet the locals. One, you won’t feel lonely and two, you’d know more about the rules and timings of the particular destinations. The locals would also tell you about the best deals for the stay.
• Connect with other travellers: If you’re going to a place which you have no idea about, not even a hazy one, it’s wise to mix with other people who have come to the same place. If a group looks harmless, you can mix with them for sharing rooms or other travel advices.
• Stay simple: If you are going alone, don’t wear anything that attracts unnecessary attention. Don’t wear flashy jewelry or showy clothes- as these might only drive danger. Also, don’t appear like a tourist. Try to dress like others around you.
A solo trip is an opportunity because you get the chance to indulge into yourself fully- so why not gift yourself the joy of travel and make the most of it!
