Image There is nothing more satisfying for a booklover than breathing in the familiar scent of physical books. Despite the advancement and popularity of e-books and electronic devices for e-books, a true booklover almost always prefers physical books over e-books. That is why trips to the renowned bookstores - antique or new- of an area would always form an integral part of their travel diaries.

And hence, if you would be travelling to the US, I am sure you would want to visit some of the coolest bookstores there. The huge size of the country, however, makes it impossible for a person to visit all the best ones in one trip. Hence, Andy Hayes of Oregon has listed some bookstores you might want to visit in the next couple of years:

1.Prairie Lights Bookstore, Iowa City

Located in Iowa City, the only City of Literature in the US, Prairie Lights is the one-stop destination for all booklovers - locals as well as tourists. And if you get a chance to hear a well-established author at their internationally-acclaimed reading series ‘Live from Prairie Lights’, do not miss it!

2.Myopic Books, Chicago

One of the oldest as well as the largest used bookstores of Chicago, ‘Myopic Books’ with around 80,000 editions stacked in 3 floors would take you to a whole new world. Whether you browse through the vast collection, sell your old books, or read/write in peace- the experience would surely be memorable.

3.Full Circle Bookstore, Oklahoma City

If Belle searching through the huge bookshelves packed with books from floor to ceiling in ‘Beauty and the Beast’ made you jealous, now is your time to do the same. Access the books on the top shelves using ladders to make your dream come true.

4.The Last Bookstore, Los Angeles

This is the largest used and new books and record store in California. Andy Hayes, a travel writer-cum-photographer as well as an avid reader, says that there is nothing better than losing oneself in a labyrinth of books.

5.Eclipse Bookstore, Bellingham, Washington

With big windows allowing the moon to cast its perfect moonlight into the bookstore, a booklover would happily spend a quiet evening with the books in the store.

Andy Hayes from Oregon State Treasury has visited all of the above five and he absolutely loved each and every one. You may not be able to visit all, but try and visit at least one magical bookstore on your next trip to the US.
