Follow the steps to troubleshoot the Outlook issues:

Step 1: Check the offline mode

Connection issues are faced when your Outlook account is set to offline mode. Fix the issue by clicking the File menu and then uncheck the Work Offline option. Now as you click on the offline option, you would see the Trying to connect.... message at the bottom of the window. If it connects, then the issue is resolved.

Step 2: System Restart

Restart the system and open Outlook newly again to resolve the issue.

Step 3: Rebuild your Outlook account

Connectivity issue is also caused by the data types (i.e. .pst and .ost) used by Outlook. Look into the steps to fix the issues:

  • Open Control Panel by closing the Outlook account.
  • Click on the Mail icon and then click on Data Files.
  • Now select the data files from the list. Next click on Open File Location.
  • Find the data files and rename the extension from .ost to .OLD. If the extension is .pst, don’t replace it.
  • Now open your Outlook account again and see if the issue is resolved.

  • Click Programs and Features from the Control Panel.
  • Find and select the Microsoft Office installation.
  • Click Change.
  • Now select Repair from the window that appears.
  • Click Continue to move forward.
