In the world of business, sometimes you and a business partner or partner company don't see eye to eye on how to handle an issue or problem. However, you can usually agree that the best solution is the one that ensures that both parties walk away with some semblance of satisfaction. However, far too often companies engage with other companies that engage in unfair business practices that not only leave them feeling far from satisfied, it often leaves them a few dollars lighter than they did when they entered into the partnership. This is exactly what happened to MX Properties.

MX Properties utilized the consulting services of one Mr. John Diak in an attempt to make traction on some new and exciting business opportunities. Mr. Diak had contacts in various locations who had experience purchasing financial instruments that were then used in bank to bank lending transactions. These transactions had been shown to be very lucrative and was something that the executives at MX Properties hadn't had a lot of experience with, so they trusted their consultant to help them navigate the way.

Unfortunately, it wasn't until they had invested over $1 million dollars of their own money into the ventures that it became apparent that MX Properties' new business partners weren't all that they appeared to be. Once the money had been wired, all contact was broken between MX Properties and the other businesses. It wasn't until this time that the consultant admitted that he knew that these other business partners weren't what they had purported themselves to be and that there was little likelihood that the money would be returned or that the proposed transactions would ever commence.

Shortly after this revelation, Mr. Diak presented a letter that had come from a Lisbon Portugal lawyer named Carmen De Souza that stated that if MX Properties paid an additional $11,000 in various fees, the original project funding would be released and MX Properties could then move forward with their original plans. As you might expect, the executives at MX Properties were skeptical as to the authenticity of the letter and were not ready to put any additional funds on the line. They demanded to receive a written confirmation from Carmen De Souza that funds would be released immediately upon receipt of the wire transfer for the supposed fees. She complied and MX Properties then wired the additional $11,000. Unfortunately, the confirmation letter was just one more piece of this elaborate fraud scheme that had been perpetrated against MX Properties. No project funding was released and the fees that had been wired to secure those funds was now gone as well.

This type of conduct by any business constitutes more than just unfair business practices. It constitutes fraud and is an illegal action on the part of any individual or company. Before you enter into any sort of partnership with any company, make sure you do your homework first and know without a doubt who you are getting into business with.

Beware of Carmen De Souza. She is not the upstanding legal professional she represents herself ot be. Read more about Carmen De Souza and her interaction with MX Properties here.
