Buying A Mattress? Here's How To Choose The Best One For You

by Pratik G. Digital Marketer
We spend half of our lives asleep. This is why you’ll want to purchase a good mattress. Knowing how to buy a mattress is a bit more complicated than just picking one out in the right size. If you want to be comfortable in your night’s sleep, here are a few tips on how to make the correct pick.

Ask Medical Help. It may seem like you’re going overboard, but asking your doctor about your potential needs is important. If not your doctor, your physical therapist would be a good alternative. This is because they will know about any medical conditions that need extra support for your back or provide additional comfort. They may not be mattress experts but they do know what you should be careful of, so keep their advice in mind when buying.

Compare Types. The first factor when considering mattresses is what sort of mattress you should be getting. The traditional innerspring mattresses are the most common mattress you’ll find. Made of steel coil springs and covered by a cloth frame, nowadays, they usually have an additional gel. Some of them even have smaller springs.

Next, there are adjustable air mattresses. They have a foam top, but a majority of the mattress is filled with air. You can adjust the size of the mattress by pumping in and letting out air.

Finally, there are memory foam mattresses. These foam mattresses adapt directly to your body. When you lay on it, it molds directly to your body shape. It will then return to its original shape when you get off.

Think About Size. You will want to think about how big you want your bed to be. If you’re alone, you should be able to settle for a single bed. For couples, double beds are an obvious choice, however, if you tend to move around when you sleep, you may want a kingsize bed. A super kingsize is for those who have money to burn, but the luxury is often worth it.

Feel The Firmness. The next thing you need to think about is the firmness of the mattress. If you move around a lot or are a bit of a light sleeper, then soft mattresses are the best choice out there. Medium soft is the next step up, providing a lot more support to your back but still allowing some give. A medium firm is harder and provides the support that a lot of people need. Firm beds don’t have much give but they are perfect for those who are heavy, sleep on their front, and need all the lower back support that they can get. However, it can cause back pain to those who are more sensitive.
