Final Fantasy XIV – Alexander Midas Savage Fist of the Son Tactics

The Fist of the Son (A5s), the first encounter in Alexander Midas raid in Final Fantasy XIV, has eight phases. In each phase, the boss alternates its size from small to big. He will start as small but go immediately to big so in the first phase players deal with him as big. The phase change is triggered when the boss reaches certain HP values. Players can skip some mechanics by pushing the boss to the next phase. Prepare enough FFXIV Gil for your character before start.  

In the first phase, tanks switch when one of them gets the Concussion debuff. Depending on the next boss action, the tank will stack with the raid or position the boss away from the group. The DPS affected by Prey will move away from the others. This can be skipped if players down the boss to 90% HP before he casts Prey. 

In phase two, the players with the red marker must place the AOE away from others. The snakes that spawn must be tanked. Poisoned players can remove the debuff in the green puddle. When the three bombs appear, the two small ones have to be knocked to the spike bomb while no player is near it. 

In phase three, players have to stand in the purple puddle to change into a bird. There will be some more bombs to deal with and a Prey affected player like in Phase 1. Tanking goes just like in the first phase. 

In phase four, the player targeted by the chimera has to run into the blue puddle. A tank should be ready to taunt the chimera away from the group. More bombs including spiked ones spawn. They are handled just like in the previous phase.

In phase five, the encounter proceeds similarly to phase three. There will be bombs and two players marked with Prey. One player moves away and the other stacks with the group.

In phase six, there will be several adds spawning. All must be tanked and special attention paid to the adds that go straight for the healers.

In phase seven, one add that must be tanked will spawn. Tanks must swap, move away or stack just like in Phase 1.

In phase eight, a chimera add will spawn. There will be bombs again like in Phase 4. Most groups will neglect the bombs and focus the boss since there is an enrage timer.
