Expressways around Delhi

by Kanishk Naithani Automobile Blogger
Delhi has always been notorious for its never ending traffic jams and excessive pollution levels. The government tried to use various steps to deal with these issues but none have been successful till now.
The plan for building a ring road outside Delhi was thought and discussed by the government and the judiciary many years back. But it was never implemented. Soon the government came up with a plan to build a circle of two expressway around Delhi to divert the traffic.
This year our Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi inaugurated the Eastern Peripheral Expressway along with the first phase of Delhi - Meerut Expressway. The Eastern Peripheral Expressway or the KGP (Kundli - Ghaziabad - Palwal) Expressway is a 135 km long Expressway which goes through Kundli, Ghaziabad, Gautam Budh Nagar, Palwal etc.
The very next day from the inauguration of the KGP expressway, around 50,000 less trucks were seen in Delhi. This would create a huge improvement in the pollution levels of Delhi and would also reduce the traffic jams in the city.
The Western Peripheral Expressway would start from Kundli Via Rohtak and Manesar and would end in Palwal. This expressway is also known as KMP (Kundli - Manesar - Palwal) expressway.
The ring of both the expressway would create dramatic change in the capital city and provide some relief to the travelers who don't wish to go through the capital. The Delhi - Meerut Expressway would reduce the time from 2.5 hours to around 40 - 50 minutes. This expressway would prove to be a boon for the people going to Meerut, Haridwar and Dehradun.
Such channels of expressway is needed in India to reduce the traffic and pollution in the cities. These expressways would also facilitate transport by providing fast and safe access to different cities. Since there would be less traffic jams, the fuel consumption would also be less and people would not be stressed or fatigued because of driving.
