Madgaon the second largest town of the state lies in Panjim, South Goa. This major commercial center is on the banks of Sal River. Here you can view the Portuguese style villas and mansions with tiled roofs and beautifully decorated with ornamental plants.

Madgaon railway station is the biggest and an important junction in South Goa, it is the gateway to southern parts of Goa and the rest of India. From here, you can travel further to Benaulim beach, Palolem Beach and Colva. These southern beaches are famous for their spectacular views, gushing sea waves and the emerald green waters. The heart-warming Colva beach is a 30-45 minutes ride from the Madgaon railway station. Quite crowded during the evenings, you can enjoy a quiet saunter around beach in the early morning hours. The beaches here offer a vivid collection of souvenir stalls, snack bars, and grand hotels for the tourists. Those planning to stay in hotels near Madgaon Railway Station will have a plethora of options within their budget. You can opt for decent accommodation on the Colva beach or enjoy a plush bed and breakfast accommodation in its vicinity.
