Our feet are a set of highly complex muscles, ligaments, bones and nerves. It like every other part of the body has its own shape and alignment and works instinctively to adapt to the surfaces we walk on.  Yes, it is one of the most important body parts apart from our hands. What happens when something goes wrong? What happens when we cannot seem to walk properly? Is there a way of finding out what is wrong with our foot? What does biomechanical assessment include?

The biomechanical assessment is an examination of the lower limbs, looking at the structure of the appendage, alignments, strengths and weakness. The check up as one calls it, does not completely pay attention to the foot itself, but  evaluating the structure the pelvis, the legs and knees. It is essential to check the lower ligaments as they are closely connected and pain in one specific spot can cause severe weakness.

Does it have any advantages?

The assessment is important as if your feet ache and pain for reasons unknown. The examination tries and understands the root cause of the problem and decides what sort of treatment is needed.

 As I talk about examining the foot, one should think of getting a full body check up as well. I mean we are constantly sitting in front of our systems with a hunch back or when it comes to operating on someone, the doctor will slouch after sometime. Therefore, I think it is best to have a complete postural assessment as well. I know there is so much to grasp, as these are things that a lot of us are not really used to hearing or even reading about.

Anyways, moving on, what do you think a postural assessment involves? I mean if the foot involves checking the lower part of the body, then this can only mean, doing a complete evaluation of all the bones. Yikes, sounds scary. I mean if I had any sort of aches or pains in my body, I would simply swallow a tablet and forget about going to the doctor. (Throwing in a bit of humour).
