If you’re fond of Apple Watches, you’ll be intrigued to know that Apple announced a new feature during its event on September 15, 2020. The new feature of the Apple Watch is a Family Setup mechanism that’ll enable you to set Apple Watches for the members who don’t own an iPhone.

A Family Setup is primarily built for your kids or older people to make sure they’re safe. Similar to the location sharing feature of ‘Find My’ app, the Family Setup feature for Apple Watch enables you to share locations to a certain extent.

Are you keen on knowing more about the Family Setup feature? Read along to learn more!

For instance, you have young children who are demanding a personal iPhone, and you don’t think that they’re old enough for a device like that. Yet, you don’t have another option to get in touch with them when they’re out, or they keep using your phone all day. Don’t worry! Apple Watch along with the new Family Setup feature has got your back.

The Apple Watch is the perfect device to handle the situation. All you have to do is get your children an Apple Watch and set up the feature. Doing this will enable you to keep an eye on them.

Wouldn’t it be great if you could manage allowed contacts for an Apple Watch using the Family Setup feature? Yes, you can do the same. Using the Family Setup feature, you can manage contacts for the built-in social applications like Phone and Messages. Isn’t it amazing that you could take care of your children’s safety as well by managing their contacts?

As mentioned above, you could share locations to some extent. ‘Find My’ app is built for one of the purposes of sharing location with your friends and family members. However, using the Family Setup feature for Apple Watch, you can set the location notifications for your children. These notifications notify you when your children or anyone else has reached the location or not. Not only this, but you can also manage settings where you’ll get notified if the target person hasn’t reached where they’re expected to be.

The Family Setup feature also consists of a Schooltime Mode that restricts all other features, instead activates only specific apps to keep your kids focused.

Other than all the information mentioned above, you can do a lot more with your Apple Watch under Family Setup. For instance, you can install your favorite apps from the App Store, listen to music, send messages, call others, and a lot more. You can also send emojis or stickers to your contacts via the Memoji app.

If you’re a fitness freak, the Family Setup feature can work in your favor. You can track your workouts and set up fitness goals. Everyone can set up fitness goals according to their caliber and track the same. Hold on! It hasn’t ended yet. Apple has also introduced the Apple Cash Family that lets you send money to anyone who has the Family Setup feature on its Apple Watch. It works exactly like the Apple Cash feature on other Apple devices.

You need to know that the Family Setup feature will only work with the Series 4 Apple Watch or later. Also, you’ll need cellular connectivity. Again, you can start using the new feature as soon as iOS 14 is launched. If you’re dicey about investing in an Apple Watch, think about all the advantages it is going to bring along. If you’re already not in favor of handling an iPhone to your kids, it’ll be worth your investment to get an Apple Watch.
