The Land Rover Range Rover is a 4×4 full-size luxury SUV produced by the British automaker Land Rover which was presented in 1970. It is currently in its fifth generation from 2021 and is available in six trims: Base, HSE, Westminster, Autobiography, Autobiography Fifty Edition, and SVAutobiography.  Now, let’s briefly examine the pros and cons of the 2021 Land Rover Range Rover.

The 2021 Range Rover offered several powertrains including the turbocharged 3.0-liter (P360) V6 petrol engine with 355 hp and an 8-speed automatic transmission. It can accelerate from 0 – 100 kph in 6.6 seconds while the upgraded turbocharged 3.0-liter (P400) version of the (P360) engine with an output of 395 hp offers from 0 – 100 kph to 5.9 seconds. Other optional petrol engines are the supercharged 4.4-liter V8  (P525 and P565) with 518 hp and 557 hp respectively, accelerating from 0 – 100 kph in just 5.1 seconds. Two additional engine choices include a plug-in hybrid featuring a turbocharged 2.0-liter (P400e) 4-cylinder petrol engine with a 112 hp electric motor and a turbocharged 3.0-liter (D250) V6 diesel engine producing 254 hp. The plug-in hybrid, enables acceleration from 0 to 100 mph in 6.8 seconds, while the V6 diesel achieves 0 to 100 kph in 7.0 seconds.


Comfortable Journey

The Range Rover, a two-row SUV that provides a serene journey, particularly in models with the supercharged V8 engine. It comes with either 19- or 20-inch wheels and a terrain-response system that effortlessly navigates obstacles, ensuring a smooth arrival at its destination. The Range Rover boasts excellent visibility, responsive steering, a compact turning radius, and ease of parking in tight spaces.


Off-road Capability and Luxury Features

Range Rovers were built to seamlessly combine luxury and off-road capabilities which they have excelled in and established as their signature. The Range Rovers possess formidable off-road capabilities with its air suspensions set to maximum height, and offer an impressive 11.7 inches of ground clearance. Standard features include an AWD system with a two-speed transfer case for both low and high-range driving, optimizing traction on rugged terrains. Also includes low-speed crawl control system, a limited-slip differential, and advanced off-road traction control.


A Cutting-Edge Interior

The Range Rover's interior boasts a lot of premium materials, including plush leather, exquisite wood accents, soft-touch plastics, and sleek aluminum finishes. The cabin effectively blocks out road and wind noise, ensuring a serene ambiance even at higher speeds. Also featured two 10-inch infotainment touchscreens, 12.3-inch digital instrument display, a head-up display, and a Cabin Air Ionization system, activated by the driver with a "Purify" button.


Spacious Rear Legroom

The rear legroom offers 48.0 inches, and is unbeaten when it comes to rear legroom in full-size SUVs. With that much space, the 2021 Range Rover delivers the most comfortable accommodation found in luxury SUVs.

Smaller Cargo Capacity

While the 2021 Range Rover offers a decent cargo area, it falls short compared to other counterparts in overall space. The base model provides 977 liters of cargo room with the rear seats up, expanding to 2007 liters when the rear seats are folded. The long-wheelbase model offers a total cargo capacity of 2194 liters. 


Pricey Base Price


The 2021 Range Rover begins at an MSRP of USD 92,000 for the base model surpassing the average for large luxury SUVs. The cost escalates to USD 97,000 for the second HSE trim and peaks at USD 211,000 for the premium SVAutobiography LWB model. 


Unreliable Infotainment System

The infotainment system offers a Meridian stereo system delivering premium sound quality and a seamless integrated navigation system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. However, these features are hindered by the system's sluggish performance. Despite commendable customization, the system suffers from slow operation, particularly during startup. 


High Price Tag

The primary hindrance to acquiring a Range Rover remains its initial starting price, a consistent factor over the years, including with the 2021 model. However, the Range Rover offers unparalleled off-road capabilities and top-notch performance, making it a standout in its class.


Challenging Handling and Steering

The 2021 Range Rover undeniably commands attention and instills a sense of exclusivity for any driver at the helm. However, it’s also tedious to drive. It is increasingly clear that the Range Rover has transitioned from a distinctive offering to merely blending in with the masses.
