by Sisschool Jaipur Sine International School
Sometimes the upsetting situations occur for parents when they have to hear from their children the words such as “I am so fat” or “I am so ugly” but the situation become even worse when they are spoken by kids as young as preschool or kindergarten age. It has been shown by the various researches that most of the kids of cbse board school in Mansarovar may begin to worry about body weight and physical appearance as early as age 3 to 5 and they express unhappiness about their bodies.

Being a parent, it is our responsibility to encourage the kids towards healthy body image:

Be an image role model: It is a good idea to commit to treat our body the same way we would want our children to treat theirs. We should have compassion for the lumps and bumps and the aging process and also should remove all rules around food.

Validate their desire to feel good: This fact we should make our kids realize that we all have the right to feel comfortable in the bodies we reside in. we should not pretend that it does not matter to our kids. We should honor their desire, relate to it as well as remind the kids that there are other elements to feel good about themselves such as our minds, spirit and relationships.

Teach them to listen to and honor and trust their bodies: Most of the body image struggle starts in the kids of all cbse school in Mansarovar with the fear which leads to us disconnecting from and ignoring our body signals. Being a parent, we can positively inculcate the incredible intelligence of our bodies. The body definitely knows what they want and need and we should teach the children that if they listen to their bodies carefully, they can trust them.
