- Technical Entry Scheme is one way, where people can join the forces after their 10+2 exam, and gets further trained in different engineering disciplines and thereby get the position of an officer. Passing though UPSC exam is not a mandate for this type of recruitment.
- UPSC conducts a very famous exam for National Defence Academy, shortly called as NDA which takes students in the best ones of this exam. The selected students will undergo disciplined training in the Academy and then after posted in commissioned ranks as officers. A graduation degree in science or humanities and the flair in extracurricular activity may makes one eligible to appear in this exam and thereby entering the academy.
- One can join defence in regular services or in short service commission and Combined Defence Services (CDS) Exam helps graduates to gets in to these services as officers and opt as per their choice. Indian Military Academy in Dehradun will be the training centre for those who choose regular services and Officer’s Training Academy in Chennai would be for those ones opting Short Service commission completing the training will get posted for 5 years initially and can be extended after the said period.
- University Entry Scheme also helps engineering students who are in final year to get in the Defence forces. The graduates who have completed their course can appear for recruitment procedure of Service Selection Board and get into Defence forces through Technical Graduate Scheme.
- Gender importance and equality are some prime factors which attracts women also to get into the services these days in defence services and considering the advancement options, it is ideal for a girl to choose defence services as career option. Graduates and post graduates can enter the services and may go along through various levels up.
Defence services cater job opportunities in lower grades as well commonly known as class III and class IV levels which has helped a lot of people to get into the defence services.
