Edible Favors for the Thanksgiving & Holiday Season

by Rohit Bumrah Writter

Thanksgiving and the holiday season are around the corner. Autumn is the time to start baking with the bountiful harvest produce. It’s the season for Pumpkin Spice latte, and Chai tea latte. Holiday season is approaching, and it can get quite stressful to pick out gifts. Cookies also make for simple, yet delicious gift hampers. If you are looking for some holiday favor ideas, check out these recipes:

• Chai Spice Cookies

To make a chai spice blend, mix ground cardamom, cloves, nutmeg, black pepper, dry ginger, and cinnamon. Store in an airtight container. Add in one tablespoon of maple syrup and form a cookie dough. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes and allow it to cool in a cookie rack. These cookies set the holiday mood for the season. Serve them with a hot cup of chai tea latte.

• Ginger Spice Cookies

The perfect cookies with a touch of holiday season. Start with grating 100 gm of ginger. In a mixing bowl, crumble some demerara sugar and room temperature butter. Add in 200 gm of flour and a pinch of rock salt. Now mix the wet ingredients: eggs and 2 tablespoons of whole cream into the batter. Form small balls out of the cookie dough and let rest for 2 hours. Bake for 20 minutes at 350 degrees and store in airtight containers. When done, stack 5 cookies in a cellophane wrap and tie with a red ribbon. You can also make a decadent version of this cookie, with chocolates.

• Dark Chocolate & Clementine Cookies

The amazing combination of dark chocolate and clementine makes the most scrumptious cookies. For this recipe, start with mixing dry ingredients with wet ingredients. Add 2 tablespoon of high-quality cocoa powder, 50 gm of dark chocolate chips, 1 tablespoon of grated orange zest and mix well. Let the cookie dough rest for 2 hours. Roll out small balls and bake it at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. These cookies are fudgy and utterly delicious. A great treat for Thanksgiving dinner and giveaway. You can give these cookies as a chocolate gift hamper.

• PBJ Cookies

This recipe is inspired by the classic peanut butter and jam cookies. These delicate cookies are a treat and so easy to whip up in your own kitchen. Add 2 tablespoon of smooth peanut butter to the cookie batter and mix well. Form into small balls and create a drop in the center by pressing in your thumb. Add 1 tsp of homemade raspberry chia jam at the center and bake it at 350 for 15 minutes.

These cookies are a prefect prelude to the holiday season. Make sure to bake a big batch.
