As a writer, you must have encountered situations where you struggled to write. This is very common and it must not prevent you from moving forward. Fortunately, there are a lot of things that you can do to overcome it. Mentioned below are a few tips shared by renowned writers like Suhel Seth:

In many cases, writers are often affected by fear. It can be anything from the fear of rejection, disappointment to simply feeling that you are not good enough. If these fears prevent you from thinking straight and zap your creative juices, you might not be able to write properly. Hence, you need to prevent fear from affecting you. By identifying your fears properly, you can work on them and improve your writing.

Take Out Sufficient Time To Write

Many people lead a hectic lifestyle and taking out time to write can be quite difficult. However, if you want to become a writer, you must prioritise and focus on writing. Hence, it is crucial to develop the habit of writing every day. You can do so by following a schedule where you spend at least half an hour every day focusing on writing. If you cannot do it every day, you must try to do it at least over the weekends. Over time, this habit will help you significantly to develop your writing skills.

Develop Your Own Style

The writing style differs from person to person. They use various techniques and methods to improve their formation style. Although you can take inspiration from them, do not try to copy someone’s writing style. In most cases, it will not work and you will feel stuck. Every writer has a different style, which makes the content stand out from the rest. You must experiment yourself and come up with your own writing style. This will allow you to write more freely and put your creativity to use.

Insert Stand-In Phrases When Required

In some cases, you might feel pressured for not being able to find the flow. You need to release yourself from this pressure to write better. For instance, you may get caught up in trying to remember the perfect word or phrase to describe a situation or concept. You must not get stuck and waste a lot of time there. Instead, move on by inserting a stand-in phrase so that you can come back later and edit it. A stand-in phrase is basically explaining ‘it in other words’ when you cannot remember the exact word.
