Android 11 developer preview will give you all the features that will help you make your apps more compatible, set new algorithms to protect your apps and will maintain privacy. You can try it on Google Pixel 2, 3, 3a and 4 devices. But it can be tricky because there is a possibility that it will flash your device while you install the operating system. The results will differ from device to device and will depend on which type of computer system or PC you will use to download the software.

However, you can use the Android flash tools by Google that will handle most of the steps to protect your device from flashing and will eliminate the hassle and complex steps for you. Remember that you will still have to complete a few steps on your own, such as flashing your device once again when the Android 11 is released on your phone and later you will have to go to the settings and make updates manually. Moreover this software is still unfinished so you have to make the updates at your own risk and then the relation process can drive your device to malfunctions and it can be of a huge risk to the already existing software on your device. You will probably have your data wiped from your phone if you adjust the settings in the Android Flash Tool.

If you are a Google Pixel 2 Pixel 2 XL Pixel 3 Pixel 3 XL Pixel 3A Pixel 3 XL Pixel 4 or Pixel 4 XL user, you don’t need to worry about compatibility. the Android flash tools will work with any of the major operating systems such as Linux Mac OS Windows 10 and Chrome OS and it also supports Google Chrome as well as Microsoft Edge version 79.

Now that you are aware of all the basics that you needed to know before you activate the Android 11 developer preview on your device you can now move on to learning how to begin and connect this new developer to your device.

To help you understand better we have broken the steps down into two parts.

Activate Settings

  • Begin with enabling the developer options menu on your phone. Go to the settings of your phone and click on Systems or About Phone. Click on the Build Number 7 times to open developer options.
  • Now from the System or About Phone page, click on Advanced and select ‘Developer Options.’ Turn on the USB debugging to enable your phone to communicate with your computer through USB cable.
  • While you are adding the developer options page, unlock OEM. Do not panic if you don’t find this option because in such cases this option is enabled automatically.

Get Started

  • All the windows 10 users have to install Google USB drivers so that your phone can be recognised by the computer.
  • Use a USB cable to connect your phone with your computer or laptop, then install the developer for Google pixel device so that you can test, preview and flash on your device.
  • Select the listed URL to your device with the ‘Use Android Flash Tool’ section.
  • You will be directed to the next page and there tap on the ‘Get Started’ option.
  • Permit the tools to access the ADB keys as it is an important step to install the software on your phone.
  • Click on the ‘OK’ button to proceed and at the bottom of the page, tap on ‘Add New Device’.
  • On your phone you will be notified with ‘Allow USB Debugging’. On the box next to the ‘Always Allow from this Computer,’ click on the ‘Allow’ button.
  • The Android flash tools will be connected with your device. To proceed, tap on the box that shows the name of your device.
  • Selected build sage will open up. Click on the pencil icon near the ‘Selected Build’ and check the ‘Lock Bootloader’ box. The bootloader will be locked which will make your device more secure.
  • Then you have to confirm the installation process and remember that you can neither interact with your device nor you can unplug it unless the process is completed and you are asked to do so.

Before you begin with the installation process, you must know about the terms & conditions and the licence agreement that this developer comes with and you have to accept their agreements. Click on the ‘I Accept’ button to that agreement and your phone will restart into the bootloader screen. While you are at it, do not click on the ‘Re-select Your Device’ from your phone, rather click on the ‘Re-Select Device’ from your computer. Your phone will be renamed into ‘Android’ during the process. If you do not want to lose your data, unlock the bootloader on your own otherwise Google will do it for you and will reset your phone and all your data will be lost. I want the software to be successfully installed on your device. Your phone will reboot one more time and simultaneously, on your PC or computer you will see a screen that will show you that the software has been updated successfully. Once your phone restarts, you will see the Android 11 update.
