Dysport or Botox: Which is Best for You?
Botox has been around for decades, and thanks to its
popularity among everyone from Hollywood stars to newscasters, many people feel
comfortable with the thought of getting Botox injections. However, our Dysport
treatment for wrinkles for clients near Keller, Grapevine, and North Richland
Hills has had just as much success in helping our clients shave years off their
appearances. Here are some things to know about Dysport, so you can be fully
informed before you seek out Dysport treatment in our Southlake and other
locations.
What are the differences?
First, Dysport has been ruled to be just as safe and
medically effective as Botox. Beyond that, however, independent studies have
begun looking into the differences between the two treatments for wrinkles.
First, there is significant data that shows that Dysport has faster-acting
results. Where Botox can take up to a week to take effect, Dysport typically
shows full onset in as little as two days. If you have an unexpected, but
important, event come up, and you want to look your best right away, Dysport is
a great solution.
Additionally, Dysport tends to diffuse more once injected,
meaning the same or smaller amount of Dysport can go much farther across the
face than a Botox injection. This is a great value for clients who want to see
a smoother overall look, rather than those who want to target specific areas
(though Dysport can definitely do that too!) You won’t need as many injections
to get the same result that Botox can offer.
Why haven’t you heard of Dysport?
The truth is that Dysport isn’t the only Botox competitor on
the market. In fact, there are nearly half a dozen anti-wrinkle injection
products out there. But Botox gained brand recognition due to a great marketing
plan and mentions from a handful of celebrities early on. Dysport is at the top
of the pack as one of the safest anti-wrinkle injection products on the market,
and as it gains more popularity and recognition, you’re far more likely to
start hearing more.
Facts about Dysport
A 2009 study by UT Southwestern Medical Center reveled that
Dysport is significantly effective in women and African-American clients, and
that it shows the same level of effectiveness in new patients as it does in
those who have previously had Botox injections.
In this study of over 800 participants, 87% saw a marked
decrease in wrinkles, and most results were measurable within just 24 hours’
time. The filler tended to last up to 7% longer in women and African Americans.
This is just one study that has shown how fast Dysport acts, and how
significant the results can be.
What
does Dysport treat?
All the same aesthetic concerns that are addressed by Botox can be treated by Dysport. This means that if you’ve noticed crow’s feet, sagging cheeks, worry lines, frown or laugh lines, a softening jaw line, or general wrinkling in your appearance, Dysport can help you arrest and even reverse these signs of aging.
