What is Dyslexia?

Dyslexia is a world well-known yet, most misunderstood disorder. It is a neurological disorder in which a person finds it difficult to read and learn despite normal intelligence. Dyslexia is a neurological disorder and not an intellectual inability. It is disorder which people face their life long. But with proper support from friends and families and a little extra care and attention can be overcome.  There are some great people in the history who have this disorder but still conquer the world like Albert Einstein, Wait Disney, Cher and many more. Albert Einstein might never learn to tie his shoelace but he solves most complicated mathematics equations. What people with this disorder require is a right guidance.

Types of Dyslexia
The three common types of dyslexia are- Dyseidetic Dyslexia, Dysphonetic Dyslexia and Dysphonetic Dyslexia.

Dyseidetic Dyslexia or Visual Dyslexia: When a person struggles with the spelling of words because they have difficulty in remembering and revisualization of word. They will problem in reading and writing of the words and letters. This dyslexia is caused due the undeveloped of eyes as well as the whole system that process and gets the information to the eyes.

Dysphonetic Dyslexia or Auditory Dyslexia: When the person has the difficulty in association of sounds with symbols, it is auditory dyslexia. In this person has the difficulty in decoding and spelling of the words. The person will not hear the correctly or disorderly.

Dysphoneidetic or Alexic Dyslexia: In this person have problems in both visual and auditory processing. It is also known as Mixed Dyslexia or Dysphoneidetic Dyslexia.

Other types of dyslexia are classified on the basis of identified problem in central nervous system: Trauma Dyslexia, Primary Dyslexia and Secondary Dyslexia.

Trauma Dyslexia: Trauma Dyslexia is caused by brain injury or serious illness. By continuous flu, ear infection, or cold in young child can bring the symptoms of dyslexia as it affect the hearing capabilities. Older children or adults grow this due to the head injury or illness, prior to that they were completely capable of spell, read and write.

Primary Dyslexia: Primary Dyslexia or Deep Dyslexia is a genetic and it is more common in boys. This affects the left side of the brain as left side of the brain is more responsible for the solving arithmetic problems, identification of numbers, finding mistakes, making calculations and measurements. In this the left side of the brain is not being utilized effectively forcing the right side of the brain to balance. This type of dyslexia includes left-handedness, above average athletic and artistic abilities, and intuitive interpersonal skills. People suffering from primary dyslexia faces problem with reading and in understanding things but this can be overcome if they are teacher with using creative methods and show some endurance with them.

Secondary Dyslexia: Secondary Dyslexia or developmental Dyslexia occurs during the developmental stages of fetus. Due the problem in the development of the brain, it damages the neurological ability for word recognition and spelling. The severity of this type of dyslexia decreases as the child grows.

Support:
Dyslexia does not mean that the person is not clever or lazy. Only that he or she learns differently. The people around them especially parents and siblings need to show them they can are like any other people. Generally people suffering from dyslexia suffer from low self-confidence; low self-esteem and they feel like that they are not equal like others and this can lead to depression also. Professionals like Cluas Dyslexia Experts suggest that, the parents play a vital role in boosting the confidence of people suffering from it especially children. They start cutting themselves from the society. But it should not be like this.

Treatment: With the support from the family and the right training programs and with use of creative teaching methods, the children suffering from dyslexia can lead the normal life. It s required to take small steps and give them complete space for learning and be themselves. By taking correct steps and the giving them the support and love these children will be able to blend with other children.
