Do You Need a Digital Marketing Campaign?

by Michael D. small business marketing consultancy

If you have been thinking about starting your own business, you have probably put considerable thought into how you are going to market it. Behind any business’s success is a great marketing strategy, but does it need to be a digital one?

We are all into the digital era now and the way in which marketing operates has changed. Still, some companies are reluctant in accepting this and think that digital advertising is risky or a waste of money due to the competition present.

However, not investing in digital advertising can have considerable drawbacks for new companies, especially those with an online presence, because this is where the majority of their target market spends most of their time. So yes, you do need a digital marketing campaign. It may sound extreme, but the reality is that digital marketing now leads the way. However, you should not forget about the other kind either.

What about Traditional Marketing?

Although digital marketing is thriving, traditional marketing is still alive and well. Different businesses have different needs, and it will depend on the nature of your business which method – traditional or digital – will work best for you. There are many people who think that traditional advertising, link having printed boards made, is still a great way to reach your audience – and that you should not forget this type of advertising in the digital craze.

The Internet is going to keep expanding

An average person spends more than 6 hours per day browsing the internet, and this average number is only going to increase as time goes by. We are well into the digital and information age, and the internet overshadows all over forms of media, including television. Although traditional marketing does generate reach, digital marketing does it better because it is more persuasive and effective.

You can target your audience

With digital marketing, you can control exactly who will see your advertisement and where it will appear. Do you sell shaving razors for men? Well, you can target your marketing so that only men will see your advertisement. Do you only ship to a handful of places? You can target your advertisement, so it only shows up in locations to which you ship.

It has a huge reach

Historically, geographic location has been one of the largest barriers to small-to-medium sized businesses when it came to marketing. A television advertising campaign alone is expensive, never mind an advertising campaign which is international.

The internet is available and widely used in most parts of the world, and so digital advertising is naturally able to reach a wider variety of people all across the globe. This is the primary reason why digital marketing has got so popular; you are no longer confined by countries or geographical locations.

You don’t even need to run your advertisement internationally, either. All it takes is for a few people in a few different places to engage with your advertisement and then it has the potential to go viral and spread all across the globe.

It is engaging

Hands down, there is no other form of marketing which allows you to engage directly with your customers. With digital marketing, engaging with and getting to know your customers is all a part of the process. The interactive nature of the internet means brands have meaningful insights into their target audience, so they can optimize their services and offer better products.

Social media platforms also allow you to build relationships and brand loyalty with your customers, because you can help them there and then with their problems and find out exactly what they have been looking for.
