Engraving is the process of creating a design on a flat, hard surface by creating channels on the surface. It is a process of creating paper images which has been traditionally used to make print and map. The person doing the engraving is known as the Graver. The history of Engraving is ancient, and harks back to 500,000 years to a place in Java, Indonesia.

Laser Engraving is one of the latest techniques which have hit the world of Engraving. The full form of the word LASER is Light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation. There are mainly three types of Laser which is used for commercial purposes- CO2 Laser, Fiber Laser and Nd: YAG Laser. In the CO2 Laser, the CO2 gas is sealed inside the laser, which may also contain some other gases like Nitrogen and Helium. The Fiber Laser is a glass fiber which has the doping of a rare earth ion. Generally ytterbium (Yb3+) is used. The Nd: YAG Laser is a laser in which neodymium-doped yttrium aluminium garnet (Nd: Y3AI5012) is pumped by the use of a lamp or diode.

Photoengraving is the process of using a photoresist for the processes of etching and dissolving. One of the main benefits of the development of Laser Technology is the 1-Touch Laser Photo. Some of the characteristics of 1 Touch Laser Photo are the sizing and rotating of the tools.
