Diablo 4 Will Let You Target-Farm For The Perfect Item

Diablo IV's endgame Helltides will allow target farming of specific item slots, giving players more control over their progress.

In Blizzard's latest Diablo IV livestream, the developer provided details on various endgame systems in his upcoming ARPG. One of them is Helltides. Certain areas of Diablo IV's world are temporarily hit by these hellish storms, turning the skies red and spawning more challenging enemies.

Players can search for loot caches within these Helltide areas. Each cache corresponds to a specific item slot. Defeating monsters in Helltides earns the player his Cinders, which are used to unlock caches. The cost of a particular cache depends on the item slots it offers. For example, weapon caches cost more than boot caches. Multiple caches can be opened during the event as long as the player has the required number of his Cinders. According to Blizzard, Helltide only affects a given area for about an hour, so players will need to quickly decide which cache they want and farm Cinders properly. However, there is a risk of being greedy and trying to unlock as much cache as possible. Cinders disappear at the end of Helltide or when leaving a stricken area, and dying in Helltide causes the player to lose about half of the cinders they have collected. Players must use their time wisely, avoid dying, and plan accordingly to get the most out of the event.

Even if players can't open as many caches as they want, Helltide is still valuable. Defeating more challenging monsters yields better loot than regular enemies. High-level crafting materials needed to upgrade your gear can also be found within Helltides.

How his Helltides in Diablo IV work was just one aspect of him in Endgame Blizzard that was discussed during the livestream. The team also delved deeper into the Nightmare dungeons players want to run through to earn gear and upgrade glyphs, and further explored the feedback they received from the game's recent open beta on dungeon design and class balance. Blizzard also announced that there will be a free Diablo IV 'server slam' test May 12-14 for those interested in giving the game another spin ahead of its official release. Progress doesn't carry over across the game, but rewards are granted at launch for achieving certain milestones in Server Slams (similar to the beta version).

Diablo IV is set to release on his June 6th, and we expect to receive his content for a new season every three months. Seasons introduces new story content and gameplay features along with the Battle Pass. Blizzard estimates it will take about 80 hours to complete.
