Convicted Animal Abuser Get a Dog
Today as I was going through my emails, I came across an article from a site that I am a member of. The site is Care2.com. Once a week I get a newsletter from them called Care2Causes, where there are articles of all kinds. They range from cooking, all kinds of animal news, health and wellness, science, and tons of other things. So I kinda look forward to getting it every week to catch up on things. Today I was reading it and all of a sudden my blood started to boil.
I
came across an article a bout Michael Vick. For those of you that don’t
know who Michael Vick is, he is the NFL (National Football League)
football player who spent 18 months in prison for bankrolling a dog
fighting ring at Bad Newz Kennels in Virginia. He was convicted for
putting on and also fighting his own dogs in one of the worse animals
cruelty cases ever. There was witnesses to him drowning and hanging dogs
from trees that wouldn’t perform in the fighting ring. Using pets and smaller dogs as “bait dogs”. Most of the poor
dogs
that was rescued out of his kennel ended up having to be put down
because of the abuse they had been put through. Only a very few were
able to be saved.
He has now bought a dog for a pet for his family. Of all people to now own a dog, he is not the one I would ever consider to let have a pet of any kind. The only way anyone found out about it was he tweeted a picture of him and his daughter sitting at a table with an open box of Milk Bones seen in the picture. He then re-tweeted it with them cut out of the picture. At first he wouldn’t comment on the picture.
Later he released a statement talking about how he wants to teach his kids the importance of having a healthy relationship with animals. Well the question I would love to ask Mr Vick is how does he explain to his kids how he treated his animals he had owned before. Also if their pet is a “loving member of the family” now, well what about all the poor animals he was abusing for those years before. Were they members of the family also? Being such an animal lover this has really disturbed me. Not only the unthinkable abuse he put those dogs through but it is people like him and his buddies that give Pit Bulls such a bad name. They can be such sweet loving and gentle dogs if raised and treated right, but when they are abused from the time they are puppies till they either get killed fighting are killed by their owner for not fighting the way they wanted them to, what can you expect from them?
