Gantry crane and cantilever-gantry crane

1 Gantry crane: the main girder has no overhanging, and the trolley runs within the main span.

Semi-gantry crane: the supporting legs has difference of height. The height can be determined according to construction requirements. 

Cantilever-gantry crane

Double-cantilever gantry crane is the most common whose stress and effective utilization of floor space are reasonable.

Single-cantilever gantry crane is used in some places with limitations.

According to main girder

Single main girder gantry crane

Single main girder gantry crane has such features as simple structure, convenient structure,light dead weight, and the main girder is partial-rail box structure whose rigidness is weak, compared with double-girder gantry crane. Therefore, when lifting capacity Q ≤50T, span S≤ 35mm, it can adopt single main girder gantry crane whose gantry legs has L and C shape. L shape has such features as convenient installation, good stress and light dead weight, but space through goods is relatively small. C shape is made into lean and arcuation for large horizontal space to smoothly get goods through gantry legs.

Main girder structure

Truss girder

This structure is welded by angle steel or I-shape steel, which has such advantages as low manufacturing cost, light dead weight, good wind-resistance, but because of lots of weld joints and own faults, truss girder has large deflection, small rigidness, relatively low reliability and checking frequently weld joints, which is suitable for place with smaller security and lifting capacity.

Box girder

Box structure is weld by steel plate, which has such features as high security, and large rigidness, and is used for large or super larger tonnage gantry crane. Box girder has disadvantages as high cost, big dead weight, and bad wind-resistance.
