Very often kids and pets are regarded as those who make the biggest mess at home but in my opinion we should not blame the kids at all for that - cleaning a few food stains or some toys from the living room is nothing in comparison to removing dog’s or cat’s hair and smell from your furniture and carpets. And in some cases you may even be forced to replace those as the damage your pets had made cannot be fixed. So that’s why I advise you next time your kid wants a pet get him a gold fish or a small water turtle. They are completely harmless and easy to look after.

For those of you, however, that had already made the mistake to get a dog at their apartment I have a few advice on how to get rid of all the unpleasant circumstances that followed this decision and finally enjoy the friendly company of your cuddling pet.

First of all when it comes to sickness you should be very careful and patient with your dog as it may throw up or do some worse things on your shoes , carpets and furniture. So the best tip here is to either lock it on the terrace or in the bathroom, if you leave in an apartment, or simply leave it in the back yard, if you are living in a house. That way you will avoid cleaning a lot as it cannot make as much damage as if it was walking all around your property. And second step is to consult with a vet what medicine should your dog take in order to get better sooner.

Unfortunately very often we cannot predict when our pets will be sick so we come back home and are usually unpleasantly surprised by some pretty nasty stains all around the house. For carpet urine and throw up stains the best homemade solution is vinegar mixed with water 1:3. It easy and simple to make, it leaves no smell and always gives a refreshing result, although sometimes you may need to repeat the procedure a few times before it gives the expected results. On the other hand, if you have the same type of stains on hardwood floors hydrogen peroxide can help a lot, of course, used in copious quantities.

If the stain on your carpet is too colourful and is not coming out so easy you may need to use some bleach, but be careful with that and make sure that you clean it all well with a carpet cleaning detergent, as bleach should not be left to soak into the carpet. Actually, it seems like cleaning after your pets cannot be so easy every time, so if you decide that it is really a heavy duty job and you need some professional help call Domestic House Cleaning and ask them to offer you some help as they do have many cleaners in London that are specialized in that and own professional steam cleaning machines that can remove pet hair from furniture.
